Is anyone else concerned about the Offensive Line?

Not as much as I was before the draft. We took a very solid OT prospect in Ball and the guard we took from Nebraska in the 7th has many traits that we can build on to make him a quality versatile backup for both guard and center. I do think OL will be a top 3 need next year for the draft, but I think they did a nice job shoring up the line with quality depth if Smith or Collins goes down for a long period of time.

I too have some concern about it. Mostly from a health standpoint. Having said that, I’m still glad they went heavy defense during the draft including in round 1. I do think they have some decent depth with G/C Connor McGovern, OT Ty Nsekhe and now rookie OT Josh Ball.

I’ve been going back and forth on the Parsons pick over Slater for a number of reasons.

I’m glad the front office saw the need for defensive playmakers, but the offensive line really scares me.

Tyron hasn’t played a full season since 2015, La’el has only played 2 full seasons in his 5 year career. Not to mention, Zach Martin getting banged up here and there. The other guys are still unproven.

We saw how pedestrian Zeke looked without those guys, and I think it has a trickle down effect on the entire unit.

Anyone else feeling the same, or am I overthinking this?
If Slater could be a two way player at DT and OG, then it would make sense for a team with the worst defense in team history to pick a OL.

It would be difficult for me to imagine this team repeating the terrible luck they had last season on the offensive line. Not only did the Cowboys lose both starting OT's last season, they lost both backups for the majority of the season.

Of course, the misfortune started much earlier when Fredericks had to retire. Then, even Martin went down. For a while there, the most senior starting member was Connor Williams.

If the Cowboys can get consistency from both tackles, then they are okay but that is a big if. Yes, it would have been great to have Slater, but c'mon, the Cowboys go nowhere without massive upgrades to the defensive talent and that would take using the top draft pick on a blue chipper.

I feel as though the Law of Averages owe us one, it would be great to play a full season at close to full strength. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

2 tackles that didn’t play, a second year center that was just ok, a left guard that was average at best and an aging right guard that dealt with injuries last year... whats to worry about?

We’re all concerned about health, and there’s no guarantees. Anything could happen, to any player, to any team. They’re ALL vulnerable. That said, I feel better than some, because the percentages favor us. Our three best linemen missed all or most of 2020, and while there will no doubt be rough spots, the odds favor better health.

Worrying is stressful and kinda pointless to me.

no.
watching terrence steele...an udfa...come in and contribute the way he did.
baptism by fire.
gives me encouragement this kid is worth working on.
same thing with brandon knight.
tyler biadasz looks like a gem to me.
add the 2 rookies this year.
the future is bright for this group.

I'm always concerned about the health of the line. But, like you, the plus side of having guys out last year is that it looks like we found some role players there. A little bit of depth. The fact that we rolled UDFA out there and he survived is really encouraging.

Considering last season, that MASH unit of an OL was overall as good as any unit on the team.....no.

True.

Building an NFL roster is an exercise in "Whack a mole."

It's virtually impossible to have a better than average talent for every position group AND and adequate depth.

It just doesn't work that way. It's more like putting a cheap patch on one unit while trying to rebuild another unit that's even worse, while trying to maintain your starters and depth on a third unit.

I think like every team in the entire NFL we’re concerned about the entire team. Like every other team, the Cowboys will be a different team this year.

lol what?

Are we talking about the 2019 8-8 Cowboys that lost games where our opponents scored 17, 12, and 13 points?

Or the 2020 1-3 start Dallas Cowboys?
You cherry pick 3 games and use that as your agenda? Wow, can you say “embarrassed?” :lmao::lmao::lmao2::lmao2:

then how did they have a losing record?? how did they fall behind in games roy?
Best stats maybe, but best offense>? that is funny.

Best statistical offense in NFL history. However they measured that. That is a fact.

So you dont know how we lost those games? Sure you want to admit that?
