This is the thread where we're supposed to be impressed how they saved 3 million while paying Prescott 40 million over the next 4 years.

These guys sure can stretch a dollar.
Nope, the two are independent. I am beyond the QB deal. That's over and done with, really old, stinky, sour spilled milk.

I was actually trying to find a little silver lining for all our little storm clouds here. There's nothing like unhappiness to make some people happy.

Yep but curious why we didn’t accept the Bears offer? We could have picked up their 1st next year as well. And why the Giants took it .
Don't know if they had the opportunity to take the Bears deal but they would have missed out on Parsons and after losing both CB's, I think the objective of the 1st round would have been missed.

I think those 3 were the target and as it got closer, they realized Horn was headed to CAR and with DEN in the West, they had to pull the trigger on Surtain. How would you like to have Mahomes, Herbert, the best rookie QB in some time, and Carr in your division?

They take the Bears' deal and pick at 20, what to they get? You know Booger could care less about next year's draft, he does not think that way. The future is now.

I'm glad we took Parsons instead of getting cute and 'waiting until next year'. By next year Gallup could be gone, more players could be injured, etc. At most, the only thing really worth it was that extra 1st rounder next year in exchange for taking a hit this year. There's no guarantee that that 1st rounder will even be a high pick because Chicago went 8 and 8. Could just as easily be a 16 or later pick. I'd much rather get the potential elite talent than grabbing 2 guys in later rounds, and as we saw, the draft didn't fall to us this year. We could have easily grabbed a one contract player this year and a one contract player next year going for quantity.

And in this case, saving actual capital and with the Cowboys, every dollar counts. They do like keeping their own.

It's all about the dollar bills with the Jones cartel.

In the grand scheme of things they didn't really save anything. Yes, Parson's contract is $3 million less than if he was picked at 10, but the 84th pick (same as we got in the trade) in last years draft signed a $4.6 million dollar deal.

It is spread out over two players, which is smart and great, but it still nets out to be about the same amount as far as the draft pool.

They are still not happy, but at least they don't feel so alone.

I thought it was stated they weren't offered the deal?

But I understand why they didn't. I understand why the Giants did. Giants could go down to 20 and still get a guy they wanted. They clearly were adamant on going receiver. If they wanted a receiver. Cowboys trade down and they are stuck at a place to where they probably even trade out of the 1st. I wondered what would happen if Parsons wasn't up there. Maybe they would've settled for a linebacker...it would've spelled disaster though they would've reached for someone there.

The fact being dismissed is, it pushes somebody's salary off the books. Which nobody is figuring in.

It could be Jaylon Smith or even Demarcus, but the 1st and 3rd pick are pushing someone out. Savings to be determined.

We prob could have selected a CB there? But I thought there were rumors we were offered the trade? Any links either?

I understand that he didn’t care about next years draft. But if that’s the case it has to be called out.

I think the Giants were shocked that the Cowboys made that trade with PHL. They were already getting their Smith card ready to submit and probably celebrating that they'd beaten the Eagles to Smith.

The real wild card in all of this was most of the mocks I saw had Parsons going to the Giants. What would they have done if that happened? Taken the Bears trade? I think so.

Why? Who cares?

This is one man's toy to do with as he sees fit, there is no accountability to anyone. He's done what he's wanted to do with no push back, he sells out every year and gets the highest ratings and that isn't changing.

Rumor is the Bears offered us the same deal the Giants took. Basically we passed on their 1st this year and next year along with their 3rd this year.

Wonder why we passed it up? But it explains how we knew Parsons would be there at #12 cause we figured Giants would take the Bears deal.

Looks to me like the Giants were locked in on a WR and probably Davontae Smith. After he was gone, the Giants were probably taking the next best WR.

It’s what we critics do Coach. We hold them accountable regardless if it effects anything. Humiliating him publicly is all we have. Lol

I've just been reading it on here. I guess its possible its not true. I just sort of assumed it wasn't based on what people have said. Haven't seen a article on it though.

I’ve heard some rumors from local press. But nothing I can link here. I doubt it would officially be known. I’m sure Cowboys would never admit.
