How will Robinson ever maximize his pro career, if they keep flip flopping him around ?
i want to see how this turns out in camp vs media types speculating that RR may be moved again.

- Is he a natural CB or a converted safety ? we already have two converted CB turn safeties Kazee and Israel
and now we are gonna do so with Robinson ?

- And frankly i've said before that we should consider Jourdan Lewis at free safety - due to his ball skills, INT ability and how he
plays much better when he is downhill facing the QB, vs having to turn n go in man coverage
he would just to prove he can be an adequate enough tackler - otherwise that could be Byron jones whiff-experience again.

- Since Cowboys apparently take the safety position so lowly regarded, it's no surprised that we now have only one true safety
among the front runners in Donovan Wilson.

Some players have the ability to do both. Kazee himself was a corner who was moved to free safety. I'm not opposed to trying whatever's necessary to find the best player at each position.

Quinn moved Kazee to safety because he was too slow for CB at he NFL level, moving him to middle safety and playing in space facing
the QB seem more suited for him - and it worked as it didn't slow down his INT production.

Robinson is a much faster and a much better athlete than Kazee. i think he had 4 INTs his final year at Tulsa while he was at CB. The Cowboys immediately gave hint that he would be
converted to safety his rookie year.

i'd already thought of Kazee as a converted FS before he was drafted - ditto with Desmond King who had INT skills as a college CB.

But it's also about the team and coaching staff that know how to best place players in the best positions, not all teams and coaches know how to do that.

According to Mockdraftable.com, Robinson has an athletic and size comparison to Oregon defensive back Jevon Holland, a player the Cowboys showed a lot of interest in during the 2021 NFL Draft.
That sounds VERY interesting.
Where Robinson will win the coaches over is with his ball skills and ability to turn the ball over from the free safety position.
The Cowboys haven't had that in far too many years. Why they continue to ignore the importance of that is unexplainable.

Heard great projections about this player but haven't seen him play. Hopefully he shines at FS because they need one bad.

Agree.

Although what i do like is they are really trying to place heavy emphasis on DBs with INT skills ..
whether FA (Kazee) ...or draft (ala Joseph, Wright, Israel)

The best player at each position is not always the same as the best position for each player. But when you're trying to put your players in a position to win...do whatever it takes. So why not try others out at several positions. Personally I think Deante Burton could play strong safety.

Being much faster and a better athlete could translate into him being a better safety. Really, a lot of it comes down to whether the players have the diagnosis skills to play safety. There's less thinking at corner. Having better skills can make a player a better safety if he understands how to read the offense. No amount of skills are going to help if he's doesn't react in time to get where he's supposed to be.

I don't know if Robinson or Mukuama either have that diagnostic ability. If they put both at safety, I guess we'll find out. Both have good enough size for the position.

Between two trains of thoughts.
1. Glass half empty: the Cowboys fell I love with his measurables but quickly realized he was raw/looked really out of place.

2. He just needs time. Not everyone starts off strong their rookie year and Quinn hopefully has a better sense than Nolan on where RR belongs.

Good. That’s his best chance of making the team because CB is slam full. I like this decision.

If he has the instincts for it, he definitely has the athleticism. It’ll be yet another thing that will be very interesting to watch in camp this year.

A forgotten Cowboys draft pick from 2020 could resurface at the free safety position
Reggie Robinson at free safety.., again?
This is a suggestion by another outsider. The Cowboys aren't planning to keep Robinson at safety. They have purposefully removed him from that role and told him he will return as a CB. We have plenty of other CBs to choose from if another safety is needed.

He played quite a bit of corner the last 5 games. Rashard Robinson was out there too and he was awful. Made it confusing to track.

I haven’t forgot about him at all. The coaches are ruining what chance he had of becoming a decent player because they want put him at a position and leave him there. They have repeatedly tried to play CBs at the safety position instead of drafting a decent safety and they definitely passed on drafting a decent safety prospect in the draft because they valued the third round pick too much that it would have took to move up. With the success rate of their third round picks over the years, it should have been a no-brainer to trade up and finally attempt to fix the FA position instead of drafting another player in the third round that won’t be on the roster in two years.

0 defensive snaps, especially when giving players like Rashard Robinson snaps is not at all encouraging. He is probably a CFL player

Would like a reporter to ask this question. It’s has all been speculation about what position Robinson will play. Most likely it’s because he hasn’t been good at either but I can hope that isn’t the case.
