Don’t really see the comparison. Jenkins was probably the higher rated prospect coming into the draft. Late first/early second prospect vs a second/third round prospect in Joseph. Joseph appears To have more upside though. On the other hand Dallas typically hasn’t had sterling results with guys with character concerns and/or guys with limited # of starts.

hopefully the cb’s we drafted this year have a more of an impact than The draft with Jenkins and scandrick. Solid players but never really moved the needle.

You can't look at traits alone, even though these heavily favor Joseph. His top end speed is similar to Jenkins, but his 40 time is much faster. He is much more sudden. Look at the difference in their long jump.

All that said, you can change one thing about a player and their whole career would look different. For example, WHAT IF, Byron Jones would turn his head .5-1 second earlier and look for the ball? His whole career might look different.

I don't see Jenkins and Joseph as comparables. On the field, I think he could do it. If he is truly committed to being great, he just might be.

They seem very similar as prospects. I think Joseph's career will unfortunately be similar. What are the key differences if any?

These are two very different players, with completely different styles of play.

Now Jenkins wasn't a bad player, and was thought to have a mature professional outlook than Joseph.

But Joseph is his superior by every athletic measurable. I'm not a big fan of Joseph's, but he is an incredible talent and there is no questioning that.

Joseph:

Better size.
Better speed.
Better agility.
Better ball skills.
Better hands.

Jenkins:

More mature coming out.
Team player @ Day 1 (not sure this held up)
Competitive every game win or lose.
Good tackler.

How are they similar prospects? Please explain?
There are a lot of players with similar measurables. Some know how to use what they have, others do not.

That's one of the things that makes it difficult to make the right pick. You can have a player with great measurables who just can't play the game and a player with terrible measurables who understands what he needs to do to maximize what he's got.

Don't fall for the OP's troll threads.

Just look at his post history.

Jenkins couldn't play through pain. That was his biggest issue. If he was 100% healthy he was a very good CB, but after 2009 he was almost never healthy. His hip injury in 2010 might have had lasting effects as well.

He and Newman we excellent in 2009. The front 7 played well, but I think the CB's really helped them too. Especially late in the season, Jenkins and Newman dominated people

One hand washes the other. You can't have a good defense unless your front 7 and backfield are both good. Otherwise the better offenses will exploit your weaknesses, especially in the play-offs.

Joseph is taller than Jenkins. Joseph is faster than Jenkins. Joseph can jump high than Jenkins. Joseph can change directions quicker than Jenkins. But yeah, they are similar prospects...even though they are two completely different people. Sigh!

but they both black and play CB cant you see it LMAO jk they are the same :))

No comparison whatsoever. Kelvin had the 2nd most INTs in the SEC last season. BOOM!

Jenkins:
Height: 70.25 inches
Weight: 197 pounds
BMI: 28.74
Arm Length: 32.13 inches
Hand Size: 9.25 inches

40 Yard Dash: 4.43 seconds
40 Yard (MPH): 18.47 (MPH)
20 Yard Split: 2.56 seconds
10 Yard Split: 1.50 seconds
Bench Press: 18 reps (225 lb)
Vertical Leap: 34.0 inches
Broad Jump: 117 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.40 seconds
Three Cone: 7.21 seconds

Joseph (pro day results so not 100% official):

40 Yard Dash: 4.35 seconds
40 Yard (MPH): 18.81 (MPH)
20 Yard Split: 2.48 seconds
10 Yard Split: 1.44 seconds
Bench Press: (N/A) reps (225 lb)
Vertical Leap: 35.0 inches
Height: 71.5 inches
Weight: 197 lbs
Broad Jump: 128 inches
Hand Size: 9.25 inches
Arm Length: 31.88 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.23 seconds
Three Cone: 7.21 seconds

Their numbers seem similar. Pro Day results are usually more favorable compared to official combine results

You can pick out a dozen different players at each position who have very similar measurables and pro day numbers. Means next to nothing.

LOL. People seem offended. Jenkins did make it to the Pro Bowl in his 2nd season.

Jenkins wasn't a bad corner, neither was Newman. I think they probably needed a different scheme but I do recall both of them having some good years. By the end of their time in Dallas they were struggling. Newman however, went to Cincy and started for them for years afterwards so he obviously had something left. Not sure what became of Jenkins.

I'd like to think Joseph has more potential. At this point he absolutely does, if only because his future is uncertain.

In fairness that last thing I want is a white boy playing CB. The last decent one I can remember is Jason Seahorn? Lol I think he ended up sucking though didn't he?

I'm a white boy, so I can make fun of other white boys right?

Tnew had more then few good years last Corner we had to consistently have 3-5 INts per season one was also 5 and he was fast and until he got older was very good..I mean Tnew also played well for years with MN after he left..

yes both good TNew on another level, Jenkins was more like scandrick shoed flashes of being very good but faltered..

I thought of the Jenkins comp as well. Of course they aren't physically identical, but they're both talented players who could be held back by a possible knucklehead factor.

Kelvin athleticism wise reminds me more of a Terence Newman
Both players were about 5'11 but have very good wingspans for their height. Thats an advantage in that you can play taller than your height if you are matched up on a bigger receiver, but you arent so leggy that you cant mirror a smaller slot WR
