Oline biggest issue is health

if we can get a full unit for atleast 11 games theres no worries

and the backups played well last year considering some of them would be on the practice squad if not for injuries

I’ve been going back and forth on the Parsons pick over Slater for a number of reasons.

I’m glad the front office saw the need for defensive playmakers, but the offensive line really scares me.

Tyron hasn’t played a full season since 2015, La’el has only played 2 full seasons in his 5 year career. Not to mention, Zach Martin getting banged up here and there. The other guys are still unproven.

We saw how pedestrian Zeke looked without those guys, and I think it has a trickle down effect on the entire unit.

Anyone else feeling the same, or am I overthinking this?
You are not overthinking it. There will be several games missed by olinemen and their level of play will decline year after year. Tyron will miss several games and from what I have read, Collins may really decline.

I would have to watch them again lol my memory isnt that good.:p
Our offense was not very good last year until we were way behind and other team was playing prevent .
And that to me is not a # 1 offense.
They only scored 17 in opening game , and our defense held rams to 20 points,so to me it was the offense that lost that game.
Great observation. When playing the better teams, the offense has not scored or been consistent and it has cost the team several wins.

And the defense being totally putrid cost them even more games! Oops sorry sometimes I post stuff that makes sense no offense intended

my point is that it isnt just the defense that has cost them games, both offense and defense, and ST's have cost them wins, and then there is the coaching, play designs, and play calling.
It isnt just one thing, and it isnt just the defense that has been bad.

Im not concerned about the offensive line at all. As a matter of fact I think Dak has whats coming to him for being so freaking greedy!!!

Absolutely concerned, it got old and injury prone real quick. I guess the bright side is that if someone goes down this year, their backup got playing time last year.

Collins is a big question at RT. He’s making 1.5 mill in base this year.

jerry gave him that big contract in 2019. But he can get out of it after 2021 and take a 13 mill cap hit. That’s the problem.

Collins is due 10 mill in base each year in 2022-24. Not happening with a bad hip.

Biadasz, Steele, ConnorM, and Knight are all being paid peanuts.

if they drafted Slater, they admit their mistake with Collins and the big contract.

so when the hip goes, or he plays terrible, we get Steele as the starter.

They’re deep into that Collins contract and have to be really hoping for his full and complete recovery. If not, they’re sunk for a few years.

Cherry picking 3 games is cherry picking 3 games. What about the other games that got them into position? With a bottom 5 defense? Huh?
What games? I need examples. I gave you examples.

When has Dak put us in any type of position with a bottom 5 defense? huh?

If you're going to refer to the 1-3 2020 season for Dak then save it and don't waste your time.

I'll wait.

If Slater could be a two way player at DT and OG, then it would make sense for a team with the worst defense in team history to pick a OL.
I always wanted to see Larry Allen play some snaps on DL...

Always concern for our O-line. It’s a matter of being fortunate enough to avoid the injury bug, and this is where depth comes in to play.

Because having the best OL in football for how many years took us to the promise land? People constantly talk about how great the Cowboys OL was in the last 10 years. WHO CARES.

At least three that I can think of. Better question, how many years did having a crappy OL take us anywhere at all? I mean, that's easy math right there. This should not be a difficult exercise to agree on, in the slightest.

Very.

However, we simply cannot keep spending multiple 1st round picks on the OL. We must hit on some mid rounders. Why? Because as good as our OLine was at one point, it was at the cost of the D. And we're not going anywhere w/o both, OL and D.

Career 42 wins 27 losses with the most horrible defenses overall.

I keep hearing this crap about collins; FACT is that there has been nothing but rumors about it. So until there is something solid I am fine with counting on him to bounce back big. Tyron is the real worry; while still not old he has a lot of mileage on him. We do need to be looking at his replacement soon. Inside the real concern is finally getting the LG position settled.
We do have some halfway decent young types for backups and depth. Which is good. So overall to be blunt I am not concerned about the O line this year. We had HORRENDOUS luck last year as regards injuries so to be logical about it that is incredibly unlikely to happen again.

Ty Nsekhe is a veteran swing Tackle. For 4 years he was the swing Tackle and occasional starter with the Skins. Their OL coach was Bill Callahan which means that Nsekhe has been really well coached.
- He was the swing Tackle the past 2 seasons with the Bills.

Tyron's probability of staying healthy might be better this season that in the past 3 or 4 years because Doctor's recommend the surgery 3 or 4 years ago but he just got it last season.

They can manage without 1 of either Tyron or La'el. Losing both last season and losing their veteran swing Tackle for multiple games made it really difficult to work around.

Knight held up better than expected at LT considering that he had practiced at OG and RT primarily before the 2020 season.

Steele actually had a couple of good games. It was a tribute to his raw abilities that he could even start NFL games as a rookie UDFA.

On the interior, Connor Williams is a much better player than most fans believe. Last season was difficult because the positions on both side of him were revolving doors with many snaps played by inexperienced players.

Connor McGovern held up OK at OG considering he had zero previous NFL snaps.

Biadasz remained as the starter for 1 game when Looney returned from injury, but then Biadasz ended up injured after that game.

Draft pick OT Josh Ball might be the steal of the draft. He was solid as a redshirt freshman at Florida State in 2017 and dominant at Marshall.
- He was available later in the draft due to the Domestic Violence issue but that was in 2017 and he has not had any issues since.
- Will McClay did an extensive investigation into his background including having the Cowboys legal teams review his history.
- At Marshall he played with mean streak and liked to make defensive players fully aware that he was bigger than them.
- That mentality worked out well for small college OT Erik Williams.

At the point that Dak got injured, the Cowboys were leading the league in offense and were 300 yards ahead of the 2nd place team in that category.
- They managed that with the majority of the OT snaps being played by a rookie UDFA and 2nd year UDFA.

Meanwhile the Cowboys are coming off the worst year in team history on defense and there are only 3 or 4 positions where we know who will be the starter.

Last season was a total meltdown . And I think the team is better than it appeared to be. The injury list is not normal in an abnormal season how can any team be fielding 4th string Olinemen?
