Kazee is the best FS we have had a long time, if he is able to bounce back to 100%

We are in deep trouble if he isn’t healthy or can’t stay healthy though. Just no legit depth whatsoever at the position.
I wouldn't be counting on Kazee so much. IMO, he still walks funny and he's in rehab recovering from that repaired Achilles tendon. Maybe he will be serviceable by the time the season gets started, it's a few months away. I think he's more likely he starts the season on the "Physical Unable to Perform" PUP list.

They have been in deep trouble for years at the safety position . It has become abundantly clear that they don’t value safeties at all. Safety has been a problem for the last 15-20 years and the only attempt made to really address the position was when Roy Williams was drafted.

Been waiting for this topic to come up.
Kazee will not be 100 % this year, even if the achilles is healed it always seems to take that second year before they fully trust it.
The infuriation with the FO lacidazical approach to the FS position is mind numbing.
In today's passing NFL, the safety position is becoming more and more important.
Stop trying to convert corners to safeties and just dammwell draft one !
It's beyond stupid, and I feel like this year it will bite them in the *** !

And why does no media person ever call them out on it ???
We can all see it.

I hear ya man. It’s one of my main frustrations with the FO.

I don’t know how a front office can NOT value the safety position, in a passing league nowadays.

I get the devalue of box safeties that play near the line. But safeties who can cover and run sideline to sideline and cover the deep middle are more valuable then ever.

it makes no sense.

That’s one of my big concerns for the season. There are literally no viable Free safeties on the roster behind him.

I am sure that they will continue trying to convert CBs to the safety position. IMO, it would have been so much better if they would have used one of the third round picks to trade up and draft a real safety. I guess they value the third round draft picks more than starting safeties. Considering the lack of success the team has had with third round draft picks, it should have been an easy decision to trade up instead of drafting a player that won’t be on the roster in a couple of years.
The thing is that the league is moving more and more to defensive sets with four cornerbacks. More receivers = more cornerbacks

I'm asking this question out of genuine ignorance.

What about Jabril Cox? Could he be some kind of crossover? Is he too slow? I keep hearing about his coverage skills. But, truth be told, I don't know how the LB skills translate to Safety.

There are still cuts to be made, let's see if Dallas makes a move.
