Giving up on LVE could haunt the Cowboys like WR Jimmy Smith

The Cowboys gave up on WR Jimmy Smith after only 2 seasons and he ended up having an excellent career with the Jaguars. I don't think the Cowboys should give up on LVE too soon. I actually wished they used their 5th year option on him. So they wouldn't be obligated to use the franchise tag on him if he stays healthy and plays up to his ability. LVE is a HOF caliber talent.

We know enough, and I still question why LVE told the media he never had problems with his neck during the combine and how he got through all his physicals without anyone noticing this.

Dallas ran tests on him before they drafted him.. I think they even did it the day before.

Eagles dump players all the time who break out with other teams. Eric Rowe, Danny Amendola, Nelson Agholor, King Dunlap...

it doesn’t matter what they did for their new team, all that matters is what they didn’t do for the Eagles. Doesn’t matter if LVE becomes the greatest linebacker of all time for the Jaguars. What matters is he wasn’t that for you

Yes, and I question how we didn't catch any of this, especially when he already had some neck issues in college that got so bad it was causing him headaches. He had a similar issue just a couple seasons ago that was causing him balancing issues that seems to be linked to his neck, but it got waved away as an ear infection.

I’m not giving up hope on him or Jaylon. This year is huge for both of them.

We don’t know his medical like they do.

We know basically nothing.
We do know he was red flagged coming out of college for a genetic spinal condition, that he has missed 13 games the past two years with neck issues and a broken collar bone and the Cowboys just passed up on the the 5th year option to extend his rookie deal.

That's a lot to know without any inside knowledge when considering further investment on an NFL MLB.

That pretty much sums it up. Sometimes a change of scenery does a player good. No telling how good Jimmy Smith would have been had he stayed.

This fanbase is so gunshy about believing in LVE again. He got hurt, got fixed, rehabbed, and now he's back people. It doesn't matter what you people think anyway. The Cowboys know LVE is back, they just didn't want to be on the hook for that 5th-year option because of limited cap space. He will be the wolfhunter we love and they will give him a new contract.

The cowboys haven’t necessarily given up.

there’s a very real possibility they resign him to a deal. Especially if he stay healthy.

the issue is the 5th year option was too expensive. There is almost no way his next deal pays 9 mil per season. He would have to have an absolutely insane season for any team to come close to that. And they still may not given the injury history.

It’s a risk
But a risk I’m willing to take for one year 9 million dollars
