I rarely agree with Mickey
But he is right about one thing
If this defense can be average, this team can win this division
It will take more than average to win the big one but average is a reasonable expectation for this season
Average is NEVER a reasonable expectation as the team who wins the SB next year knows - and it won't be Jerry's Boys, because they always think an "average" expectation is just fine.

Going from the worst to average is a reasonable expectation
Going from worst to top 5 is a fantasy

Always aim for the big one mate and expect to get there - every. time. Any great coach will tell ya that.
The only fantasy is the words "we can't."

While I normally do not like reading Spags' articles, I am encouraged that our OL is spending so much time at the Star, working with the trainers, in contrast to last season, when they were all at home, "working out" by themselves. I hope it pays off with number of games played on the field.

Yeah maybe they won't be so prone to injury like they were last season. They should be in better condition to start the year.

My prediction is the defense will be much improved , not possible to do worse than last year really . The offense will be ok but am not sure how good Dak will be after that injury . Am sure he will be a bit slower . But hopes am wrong .
10-7 is a good possibility, with a playoff win . hopefully the offense is humming and we do even better in the playoffs but am being realistic .
I do think the defense will be improved, but not sure how much to start with. They should get better as the year progresses, as those rooks get a bit of experience.
I'm predicting at least 9-8, maybe 10-7.

Agree, as if the defense gets to at least average that will be good for 3 wins. Then improve as the year goes along. I won't predict anything like 12-5, or 11-6 at this point, but 9-8 or 10-7 seems reasonable. Which also will be good enough to win the division. Since all the other teams did not improve significantly either, on paper anyway.

I agree jazz. Quinn replacing Nolan should be worth something, and with the addition of Parsons, Jabril Cox and Kelvin Joseph plus a healthy OL, I'm guardedly optimistic.
Glad to see somebody besides myself willing to voice a bit of optimism.

9 to 10 wins sounds about right . I have confidence the Defense under Quinn willl be a pleasant surprise

This the biggest homer article I ever seen written with no journalistic integrity.

Dak is back without 300 pound defensive lineman jumping on his back testing that ankle.

Lael Collins is back without bending and shifting his hips to move a 300 pound defensive lineman.

Tyron Smith is back from a neck injury without a defensive end slamming his helmet into Smiths helmet

Jarwin is back without running cutting on routes, getting hits to his knee and legs by smaller DBs trying to tackle bigger TEs.

Let's get through OTAs, training camp, preseason, and the 1st regular season game before saying anyone is back from injury. Football is a collision sport. If you are injured, you must survive collisions before you can say you are back.
CB Logan Ryan was the player on Dak's back when the injury to his ankle occurred, not a 300-pound defensive end.

La'el Collins has done lots of bending and shifting of his hips to rehabilitate in the offseason from his hip surgery.

Tyron Smith is not just back from a neck injury, he's back from surgery to repair the injury in his neck that had been lingering.

Jarwin was back and in playing shape before the season was even over. They just opted to not bring him back.

Your lack of faith in our trainers is evident. You won't consider a player back until he is field tested, fair enough.
