The Cowboys lost to the Panthers 26 to 17 in the 1997 divisional playoffs. Aikman only had 165 yards, 1 TD, and 3 INTs. Irvin had 1 reception for 22 yards. Jimmy Smith had 83 receptions, 1244 yards, and 7 TDs during that season. I think he could have made a big difference.
Aikman was almost done and Mike was done. Jimmy Smith would not have mattered
The Cowboys gave up on WR Jimmy Smith after only 2 seasons and he ended up having an excellent career with the Jaguars. I don't think the Cowboys should give up on LVE too soon. I actually wished they used their 5th year option on him. So they wouldn't be obligated to use the franchise tag on him if he stays healthy and plays up to his ability. LVE is a HOF caliber talent.
Smith came into the league in 1992. Aikman retired in 2000.
He said 97 he would have made a difference ........ I disagree.
Jimmy Smith was a jag until 1996
That is not crazy. It is called delusional."facts"...lol...good one. I think I like you. I like crazy.
If was a “JAG” until 1996 as you say, how would he not have made a difference in 1997 as he claims?

Is LVE a fall guy now......like Jaylon has been all this time?I would explore trading both Jaylon Smith and LVE right now. Call teams and see what they are willing to give in return.
Neither Jaylon or LVE will be doing much for the team this year in my opinion. Maybe some other team will give up something for a name to sell hope to their fans.
I have no problem with them keeping Vander Esch on a cheap deal, but this is an egregious reach. He hasn't done anything at any level to warrant this sort of smoke grab.
They could have extended his cheap deal and they chose not to.
If he can return to playing as well as he payed in his rookie season, it would help the defense a lot. I honestly hope that the injuries were the only reason for his decline on the field.LVE has a chance to go out and produce this season, He has to show he can get the job done and he has to show the injuries are behind him.

If people going out the door......who's coming in?Fall guy has nothing to do with it. LVE and Jaylon are two players who are just not getting the job done. Time to move on. Same with Lawrence and Elliott.
Didn’t see the production last year and don’t see it coming this year. We will see.
Who says they are giving up on Lve? They just determined his option was too expensive and will be looking to sign him to an extension. Think they may want to allow the season to play out to see if he can stay healthy/productive first. The Cowboys gave up on WR Jimmy Smith after only 2 seasons and he ended up having an excellent career with the Jaguars.
