Here's a quiet guy that nobody really mentions. What are your expectations of him this year? With all the new rookies here, do you think one could push him for playing time (someone besides Joseph)???

What traits if any do you see in his game that get you excited??

Experience is his biggest asset over the kids and some of the kids have very little college playing time
Brown is a solid CB
Not spectacular but he is solid

I see Brown as slightly better than average, otherwise, he wouldn't have lasted so long. I feel he and Lewis might be vying for the slot. He could even play opposite Diggs for a short time, until Joseph is fully prepared to start. If so, it shouldn't take long, considering Joseph's talent level. To be sure, it's entirely possible Joseph could start from the get-go -- he's every bit that talented. Nothing is set in stone. The competition at CB will be quite interesting.

I think he starts opposite of Diggs to begin the year.
Hopefully, Joseph over takes him at some point but I think at worst he's fine depth that can play slot or outside.

Welcome back! I think Brown is the better of the scrubs. He can fill in for a game or 3 but expecting him to be your first stringer and not get exposed is optimistic

i believe Brown still has good speed. Good hands.

he’s being paid starters money.

I think Jospeh starts the season as the 4th DB.

Brown will most likely be our nickel corner and #1 outside guy if either our two young starters go down, yes, I believe Joseph starts day 1.

a full of season of Otas, MCs, TC and actual PS will work this out..3 starters will rise to the top and others will have to take those jobs

those saying Brown sux needs to look around the league, not every player ie starter is PB caliber and many factors like no pass rush allowing qbs to have all day to throw and poor scheming etc create appearances that players are bad..the defense was bad last season..

they simply need to know their assignments and win more battles then the lose..

doesnt men those players will be bad again..

I dont care who starts, ill allow the new staff to get that straight before we meeting TB12 and that offense , help is needed, that true test coming..

He's not an all star, but a reliable guy.
absolutely agree he is underappreciated by many. having said that, he isn't who we want as a full time starter. I think it very likely he holds down the outside corner position early in the season until hopefully Joseph is ready. I think they may use Lewis as a FS \ nickel. Brown goes inside when Joseph takes over & he & Lewis mix and match based on opponents.

I think Joseph is going to surprise a lot of people around here.

I dont disagree but I expect that his ability will unseat Brown in season one. brown may end up dinged up anyway.

The most likely starting lineup for game 1 at CB:
Diggs
Brown
Lewis (NCB)

Joseph will get snaps even if he does not start.

Brown has been a solid player for the Cowboys.
- He has been better at Nickel CB than Lewis.
- Brown has been above average against the run for a CB, especially at NCB.

So long as you can scheme to keep Brown in the slot, ..and keep him from being outside and having to defend downfield on fly-go vertical routes, he can be
an asset to you.
He still has issues turning his head and playing the ball in air on go route. Just lacks a feel for that.

- Some Lewis fans are not gonna wanna hear this, but Brown is a better pure man coverage guy than Lewis -when it comes to defending the slot.
He makes his best plays when he's facing the QB, and headed forward. Per his INTs last year when he was in zone.
and he can be a adequate tackler in run support.

- Earlier in his career, he used to be fairly durable, but nowadays he's had problems staying healthy the last two years.
You don't want to have to start either Brown or Lewis on the outside CB role per injury sub.

- Now that they have drafted Nashon Wright as early as 3rd rd. i'd expect him to be on field very often, and going after someone's role and reps
but with Wright being so tall and so leggy i wouldn;t think he wouldn't seem idea for a slot role.
But maybe he can be Antonio Cromartie like in being a very tall CB that's able to defend both outside and slot very efficiently.
