What are your expectations for Anthony Brown?

He is OK, nothing special, he's like Lewis. They need another CB and must find out about Joseph quickly.

No DB gets more help from the pass rush than the slot guy. They improve that, they improve Brown.

I believe Cowboys will want to give 2nd pick Joseph every opportunity to seize the 2nd CB starting role.

He'll be purely how he handles adjusting to the NFL level of competition in camp.
And he'll have some big competition in on the job training going against Coop, Lamb and Gallup.

If Joseph is a bit slow to adjusting and needs more leeway time, then that's when i can see the team go to Brown as a starter outside.
there's not much choice as Lewis would be even worse starting choice than Brown on the outside role, and i would have to think
Joseph would be ahead of Wright on the depth chart - and that includes both outside and slot duties.

If he starts, he will be picked on and picked clean early and often. Teams will be feasting on our young secondary for awhile.

I've been trying to get him cut for years.

They just gave Lewis 3 years. They must like that kid they took at 99. No way he starts over Diggs. Joseph is arguably already our best CB if his heads on straight.

Brown could be a veteran cut
Joseph is very inexperienced and I don’t see that there is evidence of him being better than Brown. With his limited experience, he has a very high chance of being a bust IMO. He has great physical talent, but I think is is being overrated by the fan base in an effort to make them feel better about missing out on one of the top CBs in the draft. I think he is a high risk player with potential high rewards.

My expectation for Brown is to go out and compete for a for starting slot CB. I would hope with Quinn as DC that will apply for all, no one guaranteed anything give how poorly they played last season. You want it go out and earn it.

Here's a quiet guy that nobody really mentions. What are your expectations of him this year? With all the new rookies here, do you think one could push him for playing time (someone besides Joseph)???

What traits if any do you see in his game that get you excited??

(MY FIRST POST IN YEARS, GOSH I'M NERVOUS!)

I’ve been surprised that the team re-signed both Brown AND Jourdan Lewis. Essentially, they’re two backup/slot corners. So I’m wondering how the cornerback group will shake out given two more added in the draft.

I don’t rule out the Cowboys attempting to trade Brown to save salary cap room.

He allowed a 76% completion rate in 2020. Who thinks that’s “solid”?

just as I expect team moving Lewis to FS to compete with Kazee for starting role,.. otherwise it is senseless paying almost 5 million per year
and 8 mill guarantee for a guy who otherwise gonna be at the least a 4th CB, ..and that's not even making mention of 3rd rd draftee Nashon Wright
figuring in the CB battle. ..and you just don't draft a player that high for plans for him to be redshirted and game day inactive.

As much as I wanted to see more of Lewis - pre 2020, Brown played the slot more and was the better corner obviously (from last years performance by Lewis).

He will be serviceable if Joseph is not up to the starting task

There's a lot of questions that I have about how the secondary is going to shake out:
  • Who’s manning the safety roles? Is it Kazee and Wilson this year?
  • Is Kazee ready for the season?
  • Will Lewis be shifted to safety?
  • Is Reggie Robinson a factor at either spot?
  • Who’s the projected #2 outside corner?
  • Who’s the current #1 slot corner?
  • What is Wright’s role in 2021?
  • Is Israel Mukuamu a safety here from day one?

Even with Brown and Lewis already here, we threw rookie Diggs to the NFL wolves from Day 1, ..because we obviously felt
neither Brown/Lewis could handle a starting role outside, combined with impressions of Diggs in camp, plus we flat out needed
the big help so immediately that we couldn't wait for him as 3rd or reserve, ..

-Also with Kazee, even if he has past his required physical exam, that won't really show if he's fully recovered
until he's hit the playing field. Play speed won't show up on a exam. And frankly I cannot think of very many NFL players
that's bounced back to previous form from that kind of injury (Achlles tendon)

I can answer most of those for you:

-Yes its Kazee and Wilson
-Only one I am not sure
-No
-No
-Joseph
-Lewis
-Wont have one
-Does it really matter?

Keanu Neal did it just last year, Greg Ellis had his best sack year as an OLB after his, Kazee was running and changing directions last February.

But did Neal return to same previous form ?
it maybe a reason why he's now being asked to make the transition to LB up closer to the line, vs covering less ground and range as a safety .
and it's a difference in physical exams and running in shorts in space, vs having to do so pressing and covering receivers and backs on the playing field.
i'm sure those aforementioned guys were running in shorts and space in off seasons

Good point with Ellis. - who not only recovered from achilles, but had probably even more horrific injury with leg snapped in two further years back.
Didn't Tyrone Crawford also suffered an achilles tendon injury as well ?

My expectation is that hopefully he's our 4th CB as Joseph seizes the outside starting CB spot and Lewis stops being a freaking idiot and plays smarter this year in the slot.

Coog! Great to see you around here! Been too long.

Regarding AB- I’ve always thought he was slightly underrated. A former 6th round pick thought highly enough to earn a second contract. He’s making $4.25 mil next yr and his post June cut money is around 3.2 mil, so he might be a cap casualty. He’ll land somewhere though. He’s better than average in coverage.
