Head Coaches hired by Jerry Jones:

College coaches that were first time NFL Head Coaches - 3 Super Bowl Championships, 4 NFC Championship games

Former NFL Head Coaches and NFL assistant coaches - 0 Super Bowls, 0 NFC Championship games, as in zero, nada, zippo, nichts, goose egg, the empty set.....

I think it's the college coaches that come in and innovate, teach, inspire, lead, and demand accountability. With the NFL coaches, you're just recycling the same old ideas.

Urban Meyer would have been the best thing to happen to this franchise. But Jerry feels like only one can control the Cowboys ...... and he does not share power.

Huh. Right on. I uh... huh.

I knew I could lure the whole crew out. Too easy. What took you so long?

One of these days I’m hoping to remember something you posted with any real substance. Nothing rings a bell yet.

Lol.
Hey man, I'm not looking to fight.
You want to be the sole Jerry Defender here, you get to it.
Plant that flag. Insult anyone and everyone along the way.

That's on you. Have fun!

With Linehan as OC cowboys had their best seasons of offense since 2007 .
2014 same year Linehan started as OC
2016 Daks now infamous good year
2018 , not as good, but good season record and playoffs.

Linehan is let go so boy genius can take over, and that results in 2 years with non winning records, and no playoffs.

Just imo , Linehan> Kellen

Both Romo and dak had their best years under him, and the 2 best teams offensively .
Well 2014 and 2016 were run-first years (Linehan has never been a big run guy) with guys like Bill Callahan and an all-time great O-line leading the way.

2018 the offense looked atrocious until Cooper was brought in. Cooper then proceeded to change plays with Dak due to the defense knowing what we were going to do continuously. By the end of his tenure, Linehan was ridiculously predictable and not willing to change a thing. The man literally was not touched by another NFL team then was hired and fired within a year as an assistant in college.

The mans NFL coaching career is over and Meyer tried to prolong it. After doing his research he decided that Linehan wasn’t the man for the job. If Linehan was who you think he is then he would be employed today.

People are looking way too into the Tebow signing. You don't add a sixth TE to change the culture of the franchise.

I'm of the belief that Meyer is doing Tebow a favor because this signing likely means Tebow finally qualifies for an NFL pension.
Yes I totally agree. I feel people are looking too deep into this Tebow situation. I think Meyer is signing Tebow for 2 reasons. One to help him get his pension and the 2nd reason to have an influence on Trevor.

Meyer wanted to sign Alex Smith to backup Trevor but it didn't work out. Now he's bringing in Tebow in some capacity. Alex, Tim and Trevor are all religious people, Alex and Tim were QBs in Meyer's offense. I feel Meyer wants a religious guy that knows his offense around Lawrence. Alex didn't work out so he's going with Tebow. I also think he's throwing Tebow a bone to get his pension. It's been blown way out of proportion. Why is the whole sports community freaking out about a possible 3rd or 4th TE and special teams player, if he makes the team. It's the offseason and there's nothing else to talk about.

I was part of the crowd who wanted Meyer badly. I thought he was just what we needed as a HC. But my opinion started to change when his leading candidate for OC was said to be Scott Linehan. Why saddle your rookie QB with a guy who couldn’t even last a season as a college assistant post Cowboys?

I did a bit of digging and saw that some media members felt that Meyer’s challenges would be his lack of a robust NFL network. His college network spread vastly but he never had the time/place to build an NFL one. This started to become apparent with his coaching hires. Many bland and average guys who’ve been tied to him.

After the Linehan flirtation, Meyer followed it up with trying to hire a controversial strength coach and having to reverse decision post-locker room/media reaction. Both not as confusing as the Tebow signing, who now media report the coaches in the building are spilt on. Good luck with that one Urban. If the coaches are iffy then the locker room is probably the same.

Imagine if we hired him and he’d done all this, we’d be extremely skeptical at best. We’ll see how the team does on the field but I’m not encouraged. Lawrence may be his saving grace. I think we really dodged a bullet, though I’m not super into Mike McCarthy.
As a long time Buckeye fan, Urban's problem/achilles heel has always been loyalty. He hires friends, family, people who attended were groomsman at his son's wedding(this isn't true) but you get my drift. People that aren't going to challenge his authority. Instead of hiring people with good to great football skills that he mgith have the exact same philosophy but he knows they will get the job done. He's the same way with players too like sticking with JT Barrett too long at QB and playing upper classman instead of the best player. I will always be grateful for what he did at Ohio St but loyalty is his weakness and it backfires on him big time.

Meyer may fail. He may fail big time. But if he fails, I don’t think any of the reasons he fails will be the ones listed by you.
Myers in the long run will succeed. What he is doing reminds me of what we just went thru with hiring Big Mike and that means a change in look.

Yeah heaven forbid we get fresh blood and can make his mark. Don't want that!!

Let's keep going with the same old b.s. with McCarthy which is only slightly better than Garrett and is another yes man.

A good defense can cover up a trash qb.

I thought parcels did a terrible job as coach.

You don't credit him with helping to build that defense? Although he was going to pass on Ware...

I think that Parcells the GM was better than Parcells the HC. Although his affinity for horrid, bus driver QB's is what killed him in Dallas. Should have gone with Romo 2 years earlier.

Meyer is going to do well in Jacksonville. No question about it. McCarthy isn’t in his class. Not even close.

with him signing Tebow to try out as a TE, when he is 33, never played the3 position and hasn't played football in how many years? you lose credibility with your team.....they start looking at you differently and slowly stop listening to you

Yeah I think it was the year before Romo started when he looked awesome in preseason. I'm not sure how soon he was ready. Also not sure how much Parcells was saddled with our QB debacle. It was Romo or trash and he didn't trust the youngster.
