Dear true fans, capitol looters, contractors and all bland men:

True, very true that me idol Jimmy Dallas Johnson was HC not DC.
But it seems to me that he insisted upon a HEAVY rotation game to keep constant pressure on opposing QB chaps.

Jimmy Jones (not the championship trout fisherman) was king of the rotation system and made his assistants craft not just a rotation system but a HEAVY rotation.
Don't you think that is a good idea?
It keeps defencive bodies relatively fresh. It gives the 2nd string/rookies valuable playing time and is holy terror on QBs.

Drop by to agree or if you do not, explain why you are all mixed up.

Jimmy was a defensive coach before he ever became a HC. No doubt as any HC he had major input into what was taking place on the team and how he wanted things done

We need defensive guys who can play a full series at a time without getting gassed. When we try to rotate too much, Rodgers catches us with our pants down.

We need guys to step up and prevent long series, those 10 to 12 play drives are killers for defense. You also look to rotate guys in and out with out a big drop off

True, but rotating too much can cost you penalties and confusion.

If you can rotate a group of Reggie Whites, would you do so or just let one Reggie White play all three downs?
Rotation works if the players you're rotating in and out have similar talent and skill sets.
Rotation, however, does no good if you're subbing out Reggie White with Renee White. Shrug.
But the concept is sound if you have good rotational players.

Thing is no one is keeping their defense out there for too many snaps, and with different packages on defense you will make substitutions when going to nickel or dime packages. One thing that would help is being more disciplined defensively. There were several times our defense should have been on the sidelines but instead give up the 1st down on some stupid penalty

Yeah or late hit, hitting out of bounds. Cowboys will have to sub players just as every team out there does. No one is having their defensive front playing every snap.
Oh no, of they'll be making subs. I just don't want them changing players every down.

It is called a salary cap.
Jimmy did not have to deal with it. Until he got to Miami. Yeah, great success there.

lol Cowboys had the 18th ranked team salary heading into 93 but some talk like Jerry and his blank checks saved the day! No team had a salary cap during the Johnson era and only 1 of them won back to back Super Bowls.

Where have you been? Dallas has rotated their d line constantly since marinelli's first year here.

Last year's second defensive line that seem play a lot was absolutely terrible. They were laughably bad. I believe a big part of the draft strategy if you want to call it that was to make sure they never have a backup D-line as bad as last year.

Also, before you can have an effective rotation on the D-Line you need to have an excellent starting four. This team does not.

That and Jimmy was a literal Thesaurus on college prospects so he not only knew what he wanted, he knew the college talent so well that it was like picking ripe cherries, and the Walker trade certainly helped.
