So we now know that our Defensive coaches had a hard time evaluating player personnel....will Anae get a chance to compete in this scheme, or is he labeled a bust before he has any real playing time?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but in limited snaps last year, he was creating pressure.

Anae, was, is, and never will be much of an nfl player.

I don't see how you have enough information about Anae to make that determination. Last year we just didn't get much feedback on him. However, I do respect what you are saying here and suspect you may be right.

I call this the taco syndrome. Where fans think the player is getting screwed because he doesn’t get much opportunity to play. When the truth is he just sucks and has earned playing time.

No. He's short vs long and his short arms and slow speed will put him in the Walmart garbage bin.

Just going by what little I seen, and how little he was used. Seems he was inactive quite often. Or his name was not called that much if he had more snaps than I thought.
I have no other knowledge on it.

I will be pulling for him as I do with all players.

The guy was a later round rookie draft pick last year that didn’t even get a normal training camp and you’ve already decided he’s crap. Not surprising, but not very intelligent either. I have no idea whether he will stick and contribute, but neither do you.

He only had 6 defensive snaps last year, and I don’t recall if he got pressure on any of them, but he didn’t record any tackles or QB hits

This is true, but the fact he only earned 6 defensive snaps last year doesn’t look good for him

The entire defense was crap last year. No one, including the starters, had a clue what they were doing or what their proper positioning was supposed to be from play to play. Was it because the DC sucked? Because of an entirely new scheme? Lack of a real off season and no preseason games? I’d assume all of these were factors. Because of all of this, there’s no way to intelligently evaluate a later round rookie. How about we see what happens instead of just writing him off? Just a thought.

Coaches will always take the play who are the best or have potential to be the best. Like any other player Anae will get the opportunity to prove himself.

I am rooting for him, but what is he in Quinns system?

I don't think he is a athletic enough to be a LEO. My guess is that Gregory, Basham, and, in some circumstances, Parsons, have that spot locked up.

I don't think he has the size or arm length that the coaches look for for the other three spots on the DL. Maybe DLaws backup SDE in the 4-3?

Maybe his best spot is the SAM in the 3-4? Probably goes to Jaylon right now, but considering the number of snaps the SAM will likely get, it's probably more suited for a guy on a rookie contract thst would love to play special teams, rather than the 2nd highest contract on defense.

I think everyone currently on the roster with limited film will have a chance in camp.
If you make plays consistently with your opportunities, you’ll get more opportunities.

Anae was hurt by the lack of preseason games last year. He appeared in a few plays in the regular season but he looked overmatched to me. Just keep in mind the cowboys did keep him over Joe Jackson, who I thought would be better than Dorance Armstrong, to at least they saw some potential in Anae. I am not going to say Anae is gone just yet. One thing we learned last season is noone the Cowboys signed in free agency is guaranteed to make the team either. But Anae needs to show something in camp and in preseason this year. I don't know that he will ever be a star but I can see him going to a team where he is a fit and making some noise.

No PS games put all of these rookies in a hole. I still think despite limited speed/size he has some of the best hands I’ve seen in awhile.

If he succeeds he will have to prove it in TC and PS games. Should have ample opportunity to shine.

He's fighting uphill, for sure. Late round pick with short arms. Current staff has no investment in him. Unless he lights it up in camp I think he's gone.
His best chance is if he can beat out or at least match Armstrong, Armstrong plays ST also. But he is more expensive.

Anae needs him some Gallimore love. Posters like him, he got the Rico Gathers No Moss Award last season. AKA, The Cowboys Unconditional Love Award.
