I respectfully disagree with you. Because our receiving corp being what it is, the TE position plays more of a complementary role in this offense. So who do you think we need at TE to make it overwhelming? Remember their is but one ball to go around while you give it a think.
thanks for making my case for me...i mean they are in fact not stars just role players ie underwhelming. And? did i upset pet cat of yours , is it Jarhead??lol

The TE position is IMO in better shape than last year. But I would have my eye open for late cuts this August for an improvement.
I would be surprised if there were cuts that are better than we have other than maybe as a situational blocking TE.

I agree they aren't stars, but I don't think anyone suggested they were. But I also don't see underwhelming at all. There is a lot of room between "star" and "underwhelming".

With Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, and quality receiving RBs, there simply aren't enough balls to go around for every receiver on the team to maximize their abilities, and even so, Schultz was the 12th leading TE last year in terms of yardage, and that was with him not beginning the year as the starter and with backup QBs most of the season.

In a different situation I think Schultz could be an 800+ yard, 6 TD TE. And who knows about Jarwin? In his limited opportunity in the past he looked to have the ability to stretch the field from the TE position, but we can't say too much because he hasn't had the chance to show himself the way Schultz has.

Schultz is solid and surprised a lot of us last year. Jarwin provides athleticism and I consider him a home run threat.

im not being critical but they are just basically JAGS at TE..until farther evidence is actually played out not you trying to say what they could possibly average with more reps..right now they are who they thought they were :)

Nick Eubanks should have been waaaaay better in college than he was. I’m not sure why he never lit it up?

Any Michigan fans with a little background?

I think the combo of Darwin, Schultz and Sprinkle should combine to make a pretty solid TE corps.

I'm also wondering what Artayvious Lynn has to offer. He was a good blocker for TCU at 6'6", 260.

TE by committee - like anything by committee - is far less than ideal. You show your hand before the snap.

Exactly what happened with Bennett. They used him predominately as a blocker. Makes things really easy to diagnose when a guy who only blocks is trotting onto the field.

It depends on your definition of JAG. Most seem to use it with guys lucky to even make a team or bottom of the barrel at their position. I think Schultz proved more than that last year, especially since he was playing with backup QB's. I think Jarwin is probably more than that as well, but I won't claim he is without more evidence to judge from.

I understand my saying what I think he could do doesn't prove anything, but with his starting QB back, and with the team knowing from game 1 he can have an effect as a receiver, saying he has the ability to go from 600+ yards and 4 TDs to 800+ yards and 6 TD's isn't remotely a stretch. It's not that dramatic an increase.

Again, even with him playing with backup QB's and not beginning the year as the starter there were 20 teams who's starting TE had fewer yards than Schultz.

That said, I don't think he will put up 800+ yards because I expect Jarwin to also be in the mix, but what I'm saying isn't remotely far fetched.

I'm sure that's a valid point -- I'm of a mind that a TE will be one of the things in our draft plans in 2022.

Surprising that Jarwin is the heaviest TE at 260. I always thought of him more as a receiving TE with some speed.

I predict either Eubanks or Lynn will make the team with the other one on the PS.

Cowboys always seem to find talent at the TE position.

If Jarwin is healthy, I feel really good about our TE position. Shultz was an above average NFL TE last year. I don't care which one of the two gets the start, but Schultz would start for a lot of teams with that performance last year.

The emergence of Schultz and the return of Jarwin I think makes this a quality combo. I think if we can add a solid blocking TE the position will be set for this season.

Jarwin is my pet cat as of this moment. Still who do you propose we go and get to make the TE position pop?

We're set at TE, by the looks of things. Our other receivers will handle the bulk of the receiving duties. When the occasional TE target occurs, our WRs should draw enough attention to allow our TEs to get open. Both Jarwin and Schultz should suffice until a better talent appears.
