Wasn’t there a running joke after Kitna with the Lions made lite of his coverage abilities during a press conference!
Didn't Kitna also say something disparaging about T. Newman? Something like, "he's no Trufant". Or was that someone else? Honestly, I can't remember that far back! LOL

Both 4th Round picks, both linebackers, both from LSU, both Big and tall LBers, Bradie of course had a wonderful career with us. Is it me or is this guy very exciting to have in our roster? Give him #56!
you been drinking much Brady was large old school LB Cox is not..cox if anything is hybrid LB/SS type..sorry man this did not land..

you realize Parsons is bigger and faster and 3 down back..still not brady comp lol

Bradie was too nice… So was Newman.. So was Spears.. so was Canty..So was Ellis. So was Ware. Ratliff was the only one with a attitude.

Yeah the lack of absolute dawgs with a nasty streak was the only thing that kept that team from reaching its full potential. They had all the talent they needed to get there.. but they simply didn't have enough crazy mofos to get it done. I always remember those guys when I played.. Guys who would come in punch at the ball after I was on the ground.. or who would get up talking smack after I had a 15 yard run.. I honestly didn't get it at the time but eventually I figured out that as silly as I thought it was for a guy who just gave up a 15-20 yard run to be in my face there was method to their madness. They were trying to get in my head. They wanted me looking out for them the next play.. They wanted me to be worried about them instead of doing what I needed to do.. It never worked on me.. mainly cause I was too dumb to even know what they were doing.. but there are plenty of guys who let that sort of thing affect their game.. including a bunch in the NFL..

I thought Carter was destined to be our next great LB. I still like him, but he didn't live up to the hype. Carter actually had 5 ints in 2014. He was fun for awhile.

Didn't he even return a couple of those for TDs? Amazing athlete but very stiff in the hips which made it nigh impossible for him to cover anybody even though he was probably faster than all but a handful of RBs and TEs he was asked to cover. One cut and he was lost.

Kitna said that on a local Seahawks homer radio show.. and it was totally tongue in cheek .. I think they were from the same area in Washington so Trufant was a "homie." But Kitna had plenty of respect for Newman..

True enough but he was an extremely physical safety at 6-1 and 219 lbs. I'm recalling all the times I've seen him splatter people! ;)

Cox is 6-3, 233, which is more in line with what an NFL LB should be. Pound for pound, it's pretty tough to compare with Woody! o_O

233 is an undersized linebacker in this scheme, and he probably battles to maintain that weight...he's better suited as a safety in the pros but I'm sure this organization will find a way to screw it up, just like they did with Byron Jones for three years, square peg, round hole at safety..

Bradie James played on some bad cowboy teams.

I think your memory is skewed.

Bradie actually played in playoff games and was surrounded by multiple pro bowl teammates.

James actually was the 2nd Cowboy ever to have over 200 tackles. Led Cowboys in tackles 6 straight seasons.

That doesn't seem likely to me, or else we likely wouldn't have drafted him to start with. He excels in pass coverage, so it's entirely possible more weight would hamper him from being effective in that capacity. I think you're mistaken in your thinking but we'll see soon enough how it goes with him. He could quite possibly gain weight if he proves inadequate in this scheme. He'll have the best of trainers to help him achieve whatever his needs might be.

I doubt it, only because I feel like we would've heard all about that already. I do love getting players who come from an NFL pedigree though. Those guys seem to perform.

I hope to see Cox make a name for himself using his own skills instead of trying to compare him to someone else. Outside of playing the same position and going the same college I think it were the similarities end

I wanted the coaches to use Carter as a speed pass rushing DE.

less weight that Bradie, more speed, more agility, and more play making instincts than Bradie especially in coverage. Bradie was a better run down player at LSU. However Bradie had a better DL and defense during his time at LSU.

Jabril Cox reminds me of Darren Woodson out of college. He he can be 80% of what Woodson became in the pros, you have at least a Myles Jack type player.

I didn't knock James, I knocked the Cowboys teams he played on.

Bradie James was a lumbering thumper who couldn't cover. Polar opposite.
