I do not agree ..., I think the defense would be much better served by using him to his strengths. He is fast and very strong and we have been trying to turn him into a finesse side to side player.

Yah, we can disagree completely on this. Nothing fast at all about Jaylon. Not even sure about his actual strength. The guy is about as weak and feeble as it gets at his job. Wont stick his head up in there, gets washed out easily by blocks, waits for the action to come to him.

You missed the point. He said we should cut Smith to "send a message". There is no message to send in cutting Smith. It makes sense if Smith was some sort of bad apple that cutting would help set a new tone in the locker room, but that's not the case here.

When you factor in the cap implications, there is no real reason to cut Smith at this point. Let Quinn mess with him for the season and see if they can turn him around. If not, cut him. Quinn isn't married to Smith or LVE for that matter when you consider they drafted Parsons and Cox, brought Neal in to play some LB and didn't pick up LVE's option. It seems clear these two guys have a year under Quinn to turn it around or they likely will be done.

You guys are letting emotions get in the way of what would be a rational move for the team.

I agree on the cap part, but cutting Smith would send the exact message we need.

I dont care who you are, do your job or your gone. Get after it or your gone. Play tough or your gone. Stop celebrating losing or your gone!!!

You mean you DONT WANT to believe any of that is true. Been watching it game after game for the last two years. Jaylon Smith wouldnt be good at ANY linebacker position.

You are the one who is trying to believe in false things.

I am glad we do ..... Makes me feel more secure in my viewpoints.

Have a nice day.

You overvalue the concept of message sending here for Smith. You think if the team cuts Smith, suddenly other players will be like, "Oh man, we gotta play harder!"

It will have zero effect on the culture, overall effort of the team, etc. The best course of action for the team is try to have Quinn get something out of Smith and LVE. Then figure out what to do with them in the 2022 offseason. Most likely, one or both will be gone in 2022 (gut says Smith will be gone, LVE signed to a cheap extension).

Sure buddy, whatever you say. Jaylon is awesome. He is really a great linebacker waiting to bust out. The Cowboys are just using him wrong.

Sound better to you?

Serve notice!!! Just what this defense needs. A big shake up. And not only that, Jaylon is the leader of this defense. What better message to send then out with the old and in with a new leader and attitude?

I do not believe any of that is true ....... I think you dislike him and are exaggerating about his play.

He has played out of position most of his career. That has been a scheme problem

He’s gone next year no matter what! I agree though, he needs to be phased out. Time to move on and get cheaper by next season.

This unconditional hatred of Jaylon is getting out of hand.

He has been misused by most of his DC's and the one he had the most success with and played like an all pro was a student of his new DC.

If he still looks lost in Dan Quinn's defense then he can be cut or benched next year.
He does try and participate in assists once the player has been tackled, so he does have some value, maybe the ball quirts free and he is in perfect position standing outside of the pile ready to pounce like a jaguar.

There is little financial advantage to cutting Smith at this point. You save nothing on the cap, even as a June 1 cut. We aren't dripping with guys at LB that has some upside like he does. It makes sense to see if Quinn and Edwards can "fix" him and LVE before you toss them on the trash heap. More than likely, he gets cut next year but it makes sense to see if Quinn can get something out of him.

The bitterness some of you have for him is making you think crazy. The whole concept of cutting a player like Smith to "send a message" is bizarre. Smith is a popular player with the team. Cutting him now sends zero message.

Or you could just be someone with eyes and see that he's playing on one leg, always will be and his presence on the roster only hurts the team.

I would cut him yesterday.

I agree 100%.

And I'm turning into a "Jaylon defender" and I hate it but the hatred for him is just terrible. I've seen Greg Hardy get more respect from this fanbase.

Why would anyone not want to at least see what he looks like under Quinn before wanting to cut him? I just don't get it....
