You are right about Garrett’s legacy and defense . The problem is that MM picked the wrong guy to fix it and actually got it to be worse . MM has proven nothing so far . Even his game time offensive calls have been questioned.

i was no fan of his game management. Some highly questionable decisions but there were certainly an inordinate amount of injuries and no offseason. So we’ll see if he turns that around. IMO he has to do a complete 180 on the gambles and fakes. It’s ok to mix those in on occasion, but he took it to a ridiculous level. See how he responds after a very odd season.

If this team is still a mess in McCarthy’s 4th or 5th year then no doubt we have a problem. Yes. Nolan was a mistake, but I think they redeemed themselves with the Quinn hire and have done well the past 2 drafts getting defensive help.

Here's hoping Mike McCarthy makes a rebound from the curse of a setting last year! No HC deserves being forced to deal with the practically impossible circumstance that prevailed in 2020. I'm wiping the slate clean in the hope that noticeable progress is forthcoming in 2021. A little mercy can't be out of the question, even within the scalding fan kettle that boils within the Cowboys Zone. Let he who's perfect cast the first stone! Let's ease up, fellas. o_O

That's a lot of bull flop. :D

He has actually only had one year so far. He was injured his rookie year, and the 2021 season hasn't happened, so it's a bit off base to say "after 3 years", and premature to call him a bust. I think most folks felt he played pretty well in Martin's absence last year.
Yes my post was a hypothetical question . But after 2 years , all I hear is injuries and no on field achievements. Hope he pans out .

Agree , but waiting until year 4 or 5 is a daunting prospect for cowboy fans like after 25+ Years without a Super bowl or CCG appearance and 10 years of jason Garett . On the surface as it stands now , MM is not the best pick as head coach . Dan Quinn may be . But I would have wanted Jerry to get a up and coming young coach or a proven coach who was still ascending . Lincoln Riley , Sean Payton , McVay , Daboll, Saleh ) . MM seems like a has been , but I hope am wrong or that he just delegates well to his existing g coaches . I feel good about our OC and DC .

Quinn isn’t some genius but going from
Nolan to him should result in immediate improvement.

Still stunned we basically threw away a season with Nolan.

yup.

and we let KRichard walk to hire Nolan. Insane.

But at least we have another LegionOfBoom coach!

Media is so silent and has given MM a pass over last year’s defense . The usual excuses , a bad defensive coordinator and the firing solves it !!
Or Dak was hurt , as if that would have made any difference, cowboys were 1-4 when dak went down and some of these losses were embarrassing.

and big Mike wanted to hire Nolan, because Nolan helped Mike get that OC job at 49ers back in 2005.

big buddies.

Mike didn’t care if Nolan was the best man for the DC job.

he just wanted to help his old buddy get a pay check.

Bryan also think McGovern is gonna get an honest shot at LG

CWill is in the last year of his contract. Making 2.5 mill in base.

he’s gonna be UFA if they don’t extend him this season.

McGov is in his 3rd year.

Good competition.

I wanted Garrett gone at all costs. MM wasn’t my 1st choice but he’s here now and should get a legit amount of time to see if he can improve the team.. and himself!

I'm waiting for his review of local BBQ restaurants.
Come on now, he takes it to the next level by contacting local eateries to confirm hours of operation and when the buffet is available. See what brushing up on analytics leads to?

McCarthy after Day 2 - 20 pounds heavier.

Agree . We are stuck with Jerry’s intuitions and whims . Let’s hope the collective coaching effort had a good output

He got playing time last year and seemed to be strong at the point of attack. I don't recall any glaring issues with pass protection either (maybe started a little slow but by the end was solid).
If given a fair shot, I would favor him to beat out CWill for a guard position.

Tell MM if he can spell "cognizant" he can use it.
Pretty sure the actual Twitter poster who wrote it neds that advice that vocal response by MM in an interview written by the media..

So maybe pay attention to how that works, thats not twitter account by MM , doubt he has one..

Anyone else think the defense is going to make a fairly big jump this year? Maybe not top 10 but at least middle of the road and a noticeable increase in turnovers.
I project them to be top half of the league. And if our offense is what it normally is under Dak the gawd, watch out
