I had planned to go to this HOF induction ceremony last year with Jimmy and Cliff Harris. It’s just killing me now that they’re going to have Dew there this year with both 2020 and 2021 classes. But I just can’t take a chance with my underlying health risk.

I had not even thought about about going to the ceremony.. With this many Cowboys going in.. I may have to consider it.

If there was a love button this would get it. These two are so much a part of my childhood fandom and why I’m passionate to get out of 25 yrs of nothing. They represent everything good about this franchise.
I agree!! We definitely need a "love" button!!! @Reality can we get a love button, pretty please? :p

Pearson selecting Staubach to enshrine him makes all the sense in the world. When Pearson signed with the Cowboys as a UDFA back in 1973, he moved to the Dallas area, and had to take a job at UPS to make ends meet before camp. Pearson was also working out at the Cowboys facility in his off time. Staubach would come to the practice facility, and saw Pearson, and asked him if he wanted to run routes for him. Staubach wanted Pearson to stay later, and Pearson told him that he had to leave to go to his job. Staubach then went to Gil Brandt, and asked him to give Pearson more money - he was a keeper. Brandt did, and once Otto Stowe went down with a broken leg, Pearson's career took off.

I love Staubach and Drew Pearson. They are class acts. My love of the Cowboys grew out of admiration of 70s football. Curly up with my Dad (miss him), Sunday feast, throwing the football in the yard and watching Roger, Pearson and Doomsday on the tube TV.

Go Dallas!!!
Yea, same here. Grew up watching them both. So happy for Drew.

From what I gather about Drew Pearson from his draft pick announces, he can really hype up the Cowboys when he wants to. It ought to be pretty interesting to see what he has to say. Rodger is one of my favorite Cowboys all-time but I've never considered him an exciting pitchman.

Harvey Martin should be next!
Chuck Howley is really who should be next, but I'm not holding my breath on either of them.

Why Howley isn't in is a mystery to me.

Martin, on the other hand, was certainly a great player, and one of the best pass rushers in history, but he will always be hindered by his drug abuse, domestic abuse charges, failed rehabs etc...

Yep

Good news is it’s never over . Sometimes they can be inducted posthumously. I think there’s still hope for Howley.

True. Wasn't Bob Hayes inducted posthumously? Dying might actually help because it may cause voters to have sympathy for them for the demons they dealt with

Yes, Bullet was.

Sometines you can get in on the old timers selection by process of elimination. Kinda like Drew finally did.

At some point everyone else from that era that should have got in will get in . And it might leave a Howley or Martin sitting there .

This is great. When Pearson had the car accident that ultimately ended his career in 1984, when he was in the hospital recovering after surgery, he said the first two faces he saw were Tom Landry's and Roger Staubach's. The bond runs deep between these two men.
Damn,I remember that like it was yesterday.
