I need to immediately know the cap ramifications of a trade on the Cowboys side.
Surely his cap hits are lower after a trade to a new team than for Atlanta keeping him... right?

Who would they even take? Cap stuff gets involved for who they want also, unless it's for picks only.

I think he's 15.3m and 11.5 mil over the next two years in a trade.

Julio isn't about to sign for what Stephen and Jerry can afford to pay under their cap considerations. They're already close to their limit now, according to what I've read lately. Anyone thinking Julio Jones is prepared to sign cheaply is dreaming. Can Julio serve as a backup QB? That's what the Cowboys are looking for in the here and now, not a WR. They'll do well to afford that, by the looks of things. Aside from that, our WR corps is already well fortified.

perhaps a CD lamb for Julion Jones trade

Hell no. Zero chance I'd let a cheap CD go for an aging vet. It's impossible not to love Julios game but he's costly, aging, and often injured.

Gallup would be more feasible in a contract year.

This all seems bizarre.....He had to know wearing that in Dallas would create a huge buzz.

I will say this though, with Amari Cooper's weirdly structured contract, trading him now frees up $14M. Trading him in 10 days (June 1st), frees up $20M. I'd have to think he'd be part of any trade to take on Julio's $15.3M cap hit for 2021.

Another possibility, the Cowboys have bought into Dan Quinn hook, line, and sinker. I could see Quinn going to bat for his former franchise player and convincing the Jones that Julio is a must-have.

Sigh.

Who are you? Cheap Stephen?

Yeah I’m talking about Rice. That’s why I said I was too young to actually be able to watch him. I just think the athleticism, size & speed with Julio & Calvin puts them at the top.

More like a Booger stunt, make sure he doesn't get left out of the chatter.

Even if that were true, none of that happens without the agent blessing it and they're the ones dealing with the trade rumors in the first place which would lead me to believe they'd approach him about the idea if this is all a planned agenda. The quickest way to generate buzz for their agenda is to involve the Cowboys. Most popular franchise among fans (love or hate) and network talking heads. The Cowboys are clearly not looking for Julio with what they have and being bargain shoppers to boot so if Jerry gets approached for free publicity in exchange for spring boarding their purposes that won't involve the Cowboys anyway, that's a win. They're using the Earl Thomas "come get me" genre of generating excitement.

Will be interesting to see how the Cowboys respond to this. If they don't flat out deny interest, then the cahoots theory has traction because that would be the Cowboys' role in keeping the buzz alive. Otherwise, Julio and his agent don't need Jerry's permission for this stunt but cooperation does enhance it nicely.

Smart move by Julio blending in with the local crowd in Dallas. Maybe he was a Cowboys fan growing up????

Cooper is the WR1 here, and I don't see that changing till his contract is up at the earliest.
