Just googled their stats. Not sure what you mean by looking at the same thing.

No you are correct.

There is a QB rating stat and a QBR thing. One goes up to like 150 as the highest rating. The other has a much lower scale.

Ah, yeah, I never look at the new QBR. Not much difference, IMO.

I liked the fact that he could use his legs and seemed to be able to get out of trouble and pressure. Didnt know anything about the guy before Dallas.

Dalton is a very good backup, dont like him starting. At 10 million, give me Gilbert. But it may have just been a flash in the pan. I have no idea.
What we are talking about is the backup position, so not liking Dalton as the starter isn't relevant to the discussion. We wouldn't want Gilbert as the starter either.

You didn't mention the money before, just the ability, so that was the basis of my response. I agree we wouldn't want to pay Dalton $10 million to be the back up, but what Spagnola discussed was that the Bears are now loaded at QB with a 1st round pick, Foles and Dalton, and Dalton would be the least costly for the Bears to release - so Spagnola was merely saying that if Dalton were released and was willing to come back for the kind of pay he got last year that might be favorable. I tend to doubt things would work out that way, but it would be a nice outcome for Dallas.

What happened to Gilbert? Can they not develop him? OH ...right...this is the Cowboys.
He played great against Pitt the best D in the NFL even though we lost. He's got potential!!! Why are we looking for another retread!!??o_O
well, not sure about him. remember Jason Garrett had a great game against GB on thanks giving throwing for over 300 yards...so anyone can have a game (or half a game like Gilbert). the guy was in the league for 7 years and couldn't catch on, so there must be something, we can't put our hopes on one half in one game.

Even in that 1 game his passer rating, qbr, and TD to INT ratio were all worse than Daltons last year.
That was a tough game for the OL especially, and the zeke running game was so flat . Not sure there is enough sample games to accurately judge him but we have to assume the coaches don’t see great potential in him .

Gilbert has had a lot of chances with teams all over to really show something. He has not.
Dinucci had no preseason, no snaps, nothing. So he stank it up. Big surprise. Only morons would think that should be the last word on him.

Since Gilbert is 29 YOA and has 283 career passing yards, I think that potential ship has sailed. More like sank.

Problem there is the trade deadline is a little early to determine that...

Also I can't see how a decent caliber starting QB would be available mid season, and if so how effective would they be?

Bottom line is we need Prescott healthy. Period.

Although it's nice to know there's a capable backup if he goes down for say, six weeks mid season.

Whenever a team loses its starting QB for the season the whole deal is compromised. No doubt.

So yeah, the backup matters, but it doesn't.
Especially if Prescott is 0-5 when he goes down :lmao:

Younger and he had not failed again and again as Gilbert has.
2 years younger, and that was after he tried and failed to make an NFL roster for 5 yrs, he was 27 when he was signed to the Rams. On that note failing at something don't mean you can't eventually excel at it, it's defined as perseverance.
