Here is what is different about Quinn

I was surprised when I looked it up but Quinn was only DC in Seattle for two seasons.. and his defense was #1 in the league for scoring and yards in both of them.. No wonder he was such a hot commodity. But to be fair the Seattle defense had been #1 in yards and #4 in scoring the year before he took over .. under Gus Bradley. So they were already good when he took over.. and he made them better.. ATL's defense went from 32nd the year before he came to 16th his first year there. That's good stuff. There is a long LONG list of guys who are phenomenal coordinators who simply could not get it done as the top dawg. If Quinn is such a dude we may be looking at 3-4 years of pretty good defense to pair with Dak's prime years at QB. We should all be excited to see that.

That same one taught the Falcons how to play defense.
As a HC I doubt he spent near as much time teaching as he did as a DC
Morris was the DC
But we will see what he can do here
Hopefully he can build a solid D

No we didn’t...
Nope we sure didn't. Those of us who looked him up saw that in the 18 years he was a DC in the NFL his teams have finished 15th or worse 11 times and only top 10 5 times. Not a great track record. Most disturbing was that in the last 4 seasons he was a DC his defenses were all in the high 20s rankings-wise. Ironically the last three of those terrible seasons were as the DC or ATL which got him and Mike Smith run out of town in favor of... Dan Quinn.

Quinn was HC not DC in Atlanta and he did take Atlanta to the SB as well. Not a shock that a coordinator have success with a single unit yet fail as HC. Ask Norv Turner and Wade Phillips

Shanahan and the offense took that team to the SB. Not the defense. The defense and HC blew a giant lead in epic disgrace.

Some guys just aren’t good HC but are good coordinators
He showed with talent he can run a defense
And while he was HC in Atlanta I doubt he had the time to teach
Maybe his strength is teaching
Good coach has to start from player respect, if the players dont respect you, they arent buying what your trying to teach.
Its not always about how much you know, its equally important in translation.

We felt the same about Nolan

No. Because of Covid, Nolan tried to implement a new D with Zoom, emails, texts and limited walkthroughs during limited preseasons. If he was an even decent coach he would've seen the limits and worked within him.

Someone on the pre and early season PC's should've asked why he had the confidence that Nolan could completely overhaul the D without practice, while keeping Moore and the O from the previous year, recognizing that you can't perform engine repairs while the plane is falling from the sky.

Not saying he is Belicheat but that is the Bill Belicheat style. Teach, teach, teach!

I'm glad to see it ! Granted I thought Nolan would be good until I started hearing all the stories of how complicated his system was.

I want to be optimistic!

Go Cowboys!

No doubt he views Dallas as his pit stop to another HC gig.

Someone taught guys who were not all first round can’t miss picks to play

it seems like one year every team wants new, fresh college coaches then the next veteran NFL guys
If he can make this a top 10 defense he’s gonna get some calls
Let's be honest..

If Quinn succeeds alot will be becuz the offense is winning games and forcing team to play a prevent defense.

Those guys were extremely successful on their sides of the ball at multiple stops, though, which Quinn hasn't done.

lol....Do you forget Seattle, he's only been in 2 places. Phillips defense quit on him in Dallas.

I don't get this, so other teams didn't go through the same thing????

The offense being able to get 7’s and not 3’s as well as controlling the clock is so very important to helping the defense
We added some nice players but not enough to build a dominate defense if they are on the field all day, starting in bad field position and the offense not forcing teams to be one dimensional a good part of the game
