On this Memorial Day weekend, I am reminded of two famous quotes, one from Winston Churchill and the other attributed to Richard Grenier

"Never was so much owed by so many few.”
Winston Churchill.

"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." Richard Grenier.

Heartfelt thank you to all who gave their lives in military service for our country
Big love to my fellow Coasties.
We towed a rough road and still do.
4 times the work with one quarter the budget.

Big love to all of our Service Men and Women.

My salute is crisp and proud and on point to you, my good sirs and madams.
You are the backbone of our existence and I cannot appreciate you enough.

May our fallen rest in blissful and deserved peace.
To you we owe so much.

Thanks, some gave the ultimate price for our freedom
Some paid smaller prices.
But we appreciate them all.

Sincerest gratitude to those who have blessed this country by serving in the military and have given their lives in the process. So many in my generation served devotedly in WWII and Korea. My Uncle Gus was a tail gunner on a bomber and returned home with a chest full of medals. Honor to those who paid the price of our freedoms by serving the USA so bravely by sacrificing their lives. You're gratefully remembered on this day. Thank You.

"You know what you are. What you're made of. War is in your blood. Don't fight it. You didn't kill for your country. You killed for yourself. The gods are never gonna make that go away. When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing. Any of you boys want to shoot, now's the time. There isn't one of us that doesn't want to be someplace else. But this is what we do, who we are. Live for nothing, or die for something. Your call."

While Memorial Day is for those that have fallen, I also want to remember those that may fall because this is a day we remember sacrifice, ultimate sacrifice for a nation that lives by a concept, freedom comes with a terrible price and most that enjoy that freedom are not willing to pay that price. We are truly a fortunate nation to have so many willing to do that for us.

It is my sincere hope that we can learn from our service men and women for they serve one country, one nation indivisible and many have forgotten that. They fight and protect everyone and we could certainly use their interpretation of America.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. We will remember them.
Lest we forget....."
