You'd be taking on a sizable dead cap hit in 2022.

But I think Smith (and LVE) might not be long for this world. So..................

No one will give a 5 for a guy with a huge contract, ego and will be available for nothing this time next year. Smith’s tape has to be horrendous. All that ballerina crap to avoid contact is obvious to real football organizations.

We'd have to pay a team to take Jaylon's contract off our hands. Not cutting him in March before his contract guaranteed was just so dumb.
I think you want to keep your rep and if you increase a guys contract..you do not just trade nor cut him. We have a hand full of star players who have contract that would be tweaked before you worry about Smith and his contract.

Cowboys eat 1/2 his 2021 salary and get a 4th rd pick from the Chargers. I’ll take that.

He stinks but he sells tickets. Chargers need to sell tickets. They can barely get 25k to attend.

Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen are selling tickets just fine. New HC Brandon Staley is selling tickets. Chargers are on rise. Jaylon wouldn't help the Chargers on the field. Wouldn't help them promote team.

No match for ticket sales brought in by an ex-Cowboy with a big name.

Why would you do that?
Let's see what Quinn can do with him and wolf boy
not much Quinn can do with a non-athletic LB...he like LBs that can cover, roam from sideline to sideline and attack. Jaylon at this point has no agility, no change of direction and is a total liability in coverage and not very good at hitting the right hole any more..... not much quinn can do with a limited LB at this point, might as well get anything for him.

Why the Chargers? And would they give up a 5th and take on that contract?

However, there is the rumor that tried to move him on draft day. Maybe the Chargers showed some interest?
