No match for ticket sales brought in by an ex-Cowboy with a big name.

Uh, no.

NFL.com's Peter Schrager has suggested Herbert as a dark horse MVP candidate. ESPN’s Mike Greenberg has made Justin his #1 MVP prediction.

I spend time on a Chargers forum and can tell you: Jaylon isn't even on the radar in L.A., believe me. In Dallas Jaylon might carry some name recognition or cachet. Not now, not nationally.

I don't like him but I'm willing to let it play out, a fifth round pick for compensation would be like a guy celebrating after he's given up a first down :) oh wait o_O in any case I will give him this season, you never know, we could all be surprised :)

Let's go Cowboys :flagwave:

-------We'd have to pay a team to take Jaylon's contract off our hands. Not cutting him in March before his contract guaranteed was just so dumb.

You OBVIOUSLY did not look at the film!!! :muttley:

For those asking why the Chargers, I am reading that the Chargers are thin at LB. Any team that trades for him has to pay his $7.2 million salary, unless Dallas agrees to pick up part of that too. But his new team can cut him without any dead money hitting their CAP. Just read this forum and there are people saying to wait to see what Quinn can do with him. The implication is there is something to work with. Maybe some team would agree with that notion and that is why they would take a chance on him. Maybe the draft pick would be conditional - a 6th that could be a 5th is he works out.

I think the cowboys are expecting better things out of LVE than Jaylon at this point.

not much Quinn can do with a non-athletic LB...he like LBs that can cover, roam from sideline to sideline and attack. Jaylon at this point has no agility, no change of direction and is a total liability in coverage and not very good at hitting the right hole any more..... not much quinn can do with a limited LB at this point, might as well get anything for him.
If he is that much of a loss cause why would any team give up anything for him,?
Also why did we not cut him before his bonus/salary was guaranteed?

If that were true, they would have picked up LVE's 5th year option.

Jaylon for Derwin James! I’ll even through in Coakley. If they need LBs so bad.

Cowboys eat 1/2 his 2021 salary and get a 4th rd pick from the Chargers. I’ll take that.

He stinks but he sells tickets. Chargers need to sell tickets. They can barely get 25k to attend.

How does Jaylon Smith sell tickets?

Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen are selling tickets just fine. New HC Brandon Staley is selling tickets. Chargers are on rise. Jaylon wouldn't help the Chargers on the field. Wouldn't help them promote team.

Jaylon would make them worse on the field. Absolute wrong guy you want smack dab in the middle of your defense.

Chargers are indeed on the rise. They were 7-9 last season so being on the rise isn't hard to do. You're right, Smith wouldn't help them and they don't need him to sell tickets.
