Doubt it’s anything higher than a 5th IMO
And I think that's the issue with trading him or Jaylon. What on earth would teams even want to trade? They are trying to kick the tires and do it for cheap. Just like how the Cowboys traded for Robert Quinn.

Like I try and tell people on here though...I think a big selling point made by Quinn in his interview is that he can get LVE and Jaylon right. That was a big reason why Mike Nolan came here and that's what the Cowboys are hoping base don how they handled this free agency period.

I can't imagine why anyone would offer a first rounder given his last 2 seasons. If they did, I'd take it as well.
I'd say based on him playing linebacker...and the last two seasons he's had......i'd say a conditional 5th AT BEST.

You can't be serious. Nobody is offering a first round pick for a LB that has an injury history and has declined since his rookie year. The only reason we declined a trade is somebody probably figured we didn't pick up his 5th year option and tried to get him with a cheap 5th-7th round pick. Use your nogging.

This, if it was a first that GM would have been fired on the spot, for putting there club in that spot and if the boys passed on that if that offer occured, there should be a problem somewhere.

This is the one year you want to keep him. He's cheap and playing for a new contract and is the better LB in comparison to Jaylon Smith if he can stay on the field. But if he was ever motivated to go above and beyond, this will be the year. I'm definitely interested to see what he can do this season under Quinn.

Even if he has a good year and 'possibly' resigns, it would likely still be cheaper than Smith's current deal.

What are you waiting for before drawing a conclusion? A half century?
Well they are clearly inept at identifying and solving problems, such as taking a look in the mirror, but I certainly hope they are capable of managing the roster in a better than a one year at a time type of manner....

If they rejected it, good... unless it was for a 1st. Why would we trade away a guy who we spent a first on and who will likely be a starter this year for some late round pick? As much talent as Micah and Jabril have, they still need to learn the game at an NFL level. At one point, Jaylon and LVE were looking like one of the best linebacker duos in the league, so I'll give them a year under Quinn to see what they can do.

Rejecting trade offers means the offers were not that good or the Cowboys are just not ready to give up on him.

Why?

He has shown terrific ability when healthy.

It was not his neck that shutdown his season in 2020. It was a broken collarbone.

The neck surgery that he had before the 2020 season was a "minimally invasive" type surgery.
- My understanding is that it was a nerve issue not a structural issue.

I think when he did come back from the collarbone last season, he was fighting though some soft tissue type injuries as well.
Just as Jaylon and Zeke and about everyone else on the roster.

Heck even Rowdy was injured from being used as a punching bag from fans in the stands. :muttley: But then again he is use to that.

I think it’s two things:

  1. They want to see him prove it in terms of having a healthy season; and
  2. If he can prove #1 (and of course play well) they would offer him an extension much less AAV than what picking up his 5th year would have been.
Between he and Jaylon, I’ve got infinitely more confidence in LVE turning it around than I do Jaylon.

I also think LVE’s first half of the season is critical. If he’s healthy and plays well I think you’ll see the Cowboys try to extend him rather than him hot free agency and let the price jack up.
I don't think they extend him during the season regardless if he is playing well or not. With his/our luck, he'll be playing lights out, sign a big extension and then blow out a knee.

We know this is bull since they didn't pick up his option then drafted a LB top 10 and went after another potential starter in the 4th. Not to mention you sign another starter caliber player LB. The truth is the pick wasn't high enough. Cowboys won't trade these guys until they feel the rookies show upside in TC and PS.
