Sure, in theory, go young. But there aren't any "young" options out there right now. DT is still a huge question mark. So if the deal was decent and only say a one year type deal, it would make sense to bring Atkins in. It's not like the Cowboys are dripping with young stud DTs right now anyway.
You have to develop your studs on the DL, we have a real shot on hitting on some first year contracts with Gallimore, the rooks and possibly some contributions from our two FA signings.
Definitely need a rook to step in and step up,, 1 tech is wide open.

No thank you. The Cowboys have this youth movement going. Let the progress not be stopped. ;)

The two FA signings are JAGs and neither have the upside Atkins does, even at his age.

You can still develop your young guys while having a good veteran in Atkins on the team. This whole concept of progress stopper is ridiculous. The goal is to try to win now. Atkins, if he's healthy, probably makes you better at DT. With the way Quinn will use his front, I suspect Atkins could fit in and you could still get Gallimore, etc. on the field.

It would be foolish to think we don't need Atkins because hey, we have Trysten Hill, for example.

I’m fine if they decided to cut their losses on Trysten Hill. But I still wouldn’t be interested in paying what it would cost for any veterans well past their primes.

LOL more relying on a bunch of JAGs like the past 10+ years at DT because we are just too good to sign a veteran DT.

None of you ever learn.

We have no idea what it would cost. I mean there were people last year that didn't want McCoy because he would get a big contract and he didn't. Now McCoy got hurt and that was that but it's likely that Atkins, coming off an average, injury plagued couple seasons and offseason surgery isn't going to get some big contract.

Kick the tires on him. Sure if he wants 3 years, $30 million, you pass. But if you can get him on a one year deal for say $5M? Oh yeah, I'd consider that.

Geno is far from what he once was. It would be just a rotational guy. He'd be too expensive. We can have McCoy on the cheap if we must sign a guy thats on his last legs and is a vet. Geno is coming off an Achilles or something, so man...I would pass.

Mike Fisher knows that this aint happening nor should it. He's just using the name notoriety of Atkins to garner views.Sometimes its hard to listen to a thing he says. He is another of those yes men that Jerrah covets at the star. Never has a real scoop...never an original bit of exclusive news. ALWAYS towing the company line.I like the guy, so it makes be kinda sad to say that.

His only scoop was much of the league uses the cowboys doc when they need surgery
Heck I could have broke that news lol
I never open anything from Fish
Not that I dislike him but he tells a story like a 4 year old. 500 words to explain one sentence of news

well said. ANY OF US could have reported what he did. Thats usually the case sadly. Journalism is pretty much DOA.

This indicated Atkins was not visiting the Cowboys and was only in town because Daniel Cooper (Cowboy team doc) performed surgery, and he was here for a follow up visit.
The only news in this story is players love our doc lol

EVERY agent uses the Cowboys to garner some attention when they need a team to get interested in them. AGAIN, I think we wouldnt need to be a soothe sayer to put 2 and 2 together here. lol..and Fish actually gets paid for this stuff...kudos to him on that I guess.

And just as likely that Atkins will be another loss like McCoy and Poe were.

I wouldn’t. He’s done.
