Most coaches say about the same thing, so what he actually says is not necessarily what he thinks, or what he intends to do.
Personally, I think the less coaches say the better....

kellen became OC too quickly, that is hurting him.
The idea of him as HC anytime soon is scary, and if for dallas depressing.
I think he would be best suited as passing game coordinator.
Then make him run game coordinator and let him learn about the run game, which right now he is clueless on.
I thought I saw signs that he did draw up some runs better than Garrett, but then we'd just stop running.

The funny thing about this is that if you put that 90's team in today's NFL they might never lose a game. They had SO many elements that would allow them to dominate this era. They had the offensive line and running back that could bludgeon teams into submission who played the game with a huge dose of nasty. They had big body receivers who could abuse opposing secondaries. They had a great up the seam tight end.. They had that unflappable QB with the pinpoint accuracy. They had one unblockable pass rusher who you either had to double team or let him eat your QB.. They had a rotation of DTs who all beat single matchups all day, stopped the run, penetrated and never allowed the QB to step up and kept O linemen off the backers. They had a bunch of warp speed linebackers who could run with and cover RBs and tight ends all over the field. They had a strong safety who could drop down and play nickel linebacker or cover anything from the tight end to the slot receiver. And they had corners who held their own against Jerry Rice.. Jerry friggin Rice couldn't even dominate those guys.. All that said.. it wasn't the attachment to the formula that was Garrett's downfall.. it was the inability to recognize that he was never going to assemble that much talent.. so coaching like you had it was stupid.
Good stuff. Great stuff.

I never bought into Jerry trying to redo the 90's teams, because those 90's D's were centered around a very deep and talented DLine rotation and good/great S play. Or, I guess he didn't even notice what really made them great.

Other than the Rams game in 2019 and the Vikings game in 2020 I cannot think of a game where I thought we stayed with the run working or not. My biggest complaint will always be the lack of feel for WHEN to run it. So often down in the red zone he shifts to an obvious pass formation when the running game was doing just fine. Then it seems like in games when the offensive line is struggling and he NEEDS to do something else he goes with the run down close. The Vikings game in 2019 and the Saints game that same year leap out at me. Those were games where the line simply got whipped.. yet seemingly right when Dak and the receivers were rolling we shifted into 3 tight ends and ran into the teeth of a d-line that had been kickin our tails all day. And then kicked field goals. It's like he's not watching the game that is unfolding in front of him. If Zeke brings the ball into the red zone with a nice run or three he's getting at least 2 carries to punch it in if I'm calling the plays. If Zeke has been getting stuffed all day THEN I might be able to justify 5-wide empty backfield. And if indeed that's what I'm going to do then Zeke will NOT be one of the receivers.. Sub in an actual receiver who might have a better chance to make a catch in traffic vs a running back who is extremely unlikely to be able to outmaneuver his man in tight space and who is about as likely to make a contested catch as I am. Again.. "feel." If Moore doesn't show it this year I would be all for sending him packing.

Jerry had little to do with building the 90's teams, that's obvious by what's happened since Jimmy and most of his team left.

While this might be true.. It bears noting that a LOT of the guys who would become great under Jimmy were already there and being developed under Landry.. Irvin, Norton, Newton, Tuinei, Gogan, Jeffcoat, Bates, K-Mart were all already on the roster and just needed seasoning. That's 6 future probowlers Jimmy inherited while whining about how bare the cupboard was when he got to Dallas. He was a great coach and a great talent evaluator.. But like most of us, the older he gets, the better he was. Jimmy did not single handedly build those great teams. No matter how hard he tries to sell that narrative.

Coaches are all two-faced. Once in a blue moon we get a Dennis Green meltdown or that Colts’ coach ‘playoffs?’

Head coaches should take note from the WWE and give the fans something to be excited about. Have some fun. It is entertainment.

Bingo.. I'm not sure I've ever seen an OC with less of a feel for the run game. MAYBE Mike Martz with the Rams when he refused to hand the ball to Faulk who was eating the Pats defense alive.. Sometimes these geniuses are so busy trying to show their "creativity" in the passing game they forget that the object of the game is winning and not validating their "greatness."

Run game needs a refresh.

Everyone has seen that shotgun/pistol run with Zeke.

Jason Garrett sounds a lot like Nick Saban who sounds a lot like Bill Belichick, the origin of "it's a process", which they both still use. Garrett got the saying down, just not close to the same results as they did.

All coaches are just like us, we are products of our influencers.

Exactly. Some fans like to look for golden nuggets and true insight in what coaches say to the media, but mostly it's just stock stuff that's not a whole lot different than other coaches around the NFL are saying. Most coaches aren't that eager to talk to the media, but it's an obligation that goes with the NFL.

Listening to Kellen Moore"s presser IMO he sounds a lot like Jason Garrett! I mean this in a good way, not bashing him. Jason Garrett has rubbed off on him. I also believe he will be a good HC.

what else did he learn...

I remember years ago Ryan Clark was talking about the Cowboys offense. He said they run the same offense pretty much every week and they don't gameplay for specific teams. He said notany teams do that because you have to have an extremely talented team. Garrett in my opinion was more into being friends with the players than developing coaching plans and scheming for different teams. I think Moore is better coaching material.

well said, Ronnie, and kellen was a pass oriented qb. he needs to understand when to run and the reasons to be balanced.
