Gallup said. "You're not going to get that contract if you don't do what you're supposed to on the field first. I think, one thing to think about, you can't talk anything into the future. You've just got to do what you're supposed to do right now."

What a smart young man. He may want to pass the bold on to Lamb & his bucket of popcorn. :lmao:

I hate to see this guy go but Dallas is not going to give him the new contract that he has earned. Do not take the team-friendly deal. There will be a proper offer out there that the Cowboys will be unwilling to match and then he'll be gone. I'm looking forward to watching him play this final season with the Cowboys. He's a really good receiver and a better dude.

Love Gallup but can’t pay everyone.
If we keep him now we get one more year of production from him and likely a fourth or third round comp pick. Not bad. So to trade him now and lose that season would have to be for a better pick than that, significantly. I can’t see anyone giving us a first for him and even a higher third round pick doesn’t seem worth it if we think we will get a third round comp pick. So really would take a second round pick for me to get him. The only way that happens is if a contender takes a big injury first few weeks of the season and gets a little desperate. JMO

Yep, have to agree here. Gallup is just saying all the right things as he should. These guys wait for 4 years so they can get paid. He will be going to the highest bidder. I dont think we can even be in the ballpark. Drafting Lamb sealed the deal for Gallup or Cooper. One has to go.

Gallup is a great player but he doesn't draw the attention Cooper does if Cooper is healthy. If the kid they got in this draft is all the hype we are hearing, he should be able to replace Gallup and benefit greatly from having Cooper and Lamb on the field. Gallup would be a luxury at too high a cost and with that said, he should try to get all the $$ he can. Can't blame a guy for that at all.

I would take Gallup at 12 million over Cooper at 22 million. Besides, Lamb is the new #1 in Dallas. Cooper at 22 million is the luxury at this point. However, I dont think Gallup will take 12 million.

PAY THE MAN HIS MONEY

18 million/year for 5 years with a 50 million signing bonus sounds about right

"Obviously, I'd love to stay here," he said. "I'd love to be in Dallas. I love the community, love the city, love the fans, so it's up in the air, but I want to be right here. So we'll see."

Interesting to hear him discuss it, my feeling is he’ll be open to a team friendly deal but some team will blow us out of the water. As a 3rd round pick he’s going to have to take that money.

You gotta let it all play out. If Gallup shows out, Cowboys can pay him or let him walk (3rd comp pick). They could see if they can do an extension in TC. I look forward to MG taking a step forward in his development, and those 3 WRs torturing secondaries.
Indeed, I love everything about Gallup, his age, his prime, bio, high ceiling.
Just needs to break out, and with a healthy offense this could easily be Gallups resume season.
Moore needs to check out Curtis Samuel and how the Panthers developed him and now with WFT,, Gallup matches that talent.

It's not a question of holding him back but what option is he going to be when the full pass offense is on the field. How often will he be the hot read?

You know Booger is going to want to see his prize pick from the last draft showcased, they've got 20M to another WR and one WR on his last contract. Add the backs and TE's and how does Gallup get more shine than he's gotten in the past?

They're going to give him even more targets to raise his price on the open market? We're talking about the #3WR here, not the #2. When Lamb fell in the draft so did Gallup's chances of remaining a Cowboy unless he's willing to cut a deal and why should he do that? They're going to want to pay him #3WR money.

You asked a question about getting Lamb more targets, which is understandable, but also mentioned featuring Fehoko more because they know they're losing Gallup. That is indeed holding Gallup back, which is what I objected to. When the balls start flying, I think Dak will feed whoever's getting it done. Likewise, Romo was at his best when he spread the ball around but he also needed to trust guys. We don't need Lamb to be all-world this year. I think that's also fueled by our hopes of a highly-praised 1st Round draft pick developing into an All-Pro. Gallup has experience over Lamb and you can't undersell what that might mean to a QB. 4th year versus 2nd year does make a difference. And let's hope there's no sophomore slump which is something absolutely no one is considering.

Eekk.. i guess I don't care about the money because I remember what it was like before they traded for Amari. He instantly changed our offense/Dak and Gallup was there before. It's close, if I see CeeDee take another step this year (pretty obvious he will) then I am OK with letting Amari go after this season. I just love Amari's route running and tact. I think he scares the hell out of opposing CB's. Even Aikman said he's never seen anyone that can cover him on a play unless two people are there. That's worth some $$. Not sure CeeDee couldn't be taken out of a game by one guy yet. Love him but I've only seen one year. So I am open minded.

Gallup is legit. He deserves to get paid. I wish we could keep him, but I dont see it happening. He's an easy guy to root for.

if Gallup has a 1,000+ yard season someone is going to give him top 5 WR money.

edit: And regardless of what receiver we lose in 2022 we better not go looking at WR with any of our top picks.

Yeah right, most of y'all were lusting after a tight end during draft season. WR will definitely be on the board.

He is good but he is not a #1. He has consistency issues or concentration lapses or whatever. He would be worthless facing teams #1 CB week in week out. He is guy you would love to keep but ultimately you find a replacement for.

Yeah agreed, if he has a good year some team is going to throw 12 to 15 million a season. Doubt Cowboys will match that and are thinking 7 to 8 million range. But hey I guess we'll see.

I don’t expect the TE position to get more than last year even with jarwin back
Very rarely is TE the primary target on a play
His big play ability is what teams will like
He’s not gonna get top 5 money but he will get some nice offers

Cooper and Lamb should only leave the field for rest. 1 RB Zeke/Pollard.
Then two starting caliber TEs, Gallup, Wilson, Brown, and Pollard fighting for the last 2 skill spots. And they're going to want to develop some other WR with Brown, Wilson, and Gallup in contract years.
Development snaps go to guys with a future in Dallas. Jarwin and Pollard. Gallup won't get the snaps or the looks he has been getting.

I find this take absurd. Wilson won't be on the field enough to do what you are saying.

Maybe you're right about that. After looking at Spotrac and seeing that Wilson is also in his contract year, there's no reason to play him over Gallup. Still, he does look good when he gets in games.
