I would like to bring attention to my fellow Cowboys about some of the smokescreen McCarthy & Quinn are trying to sell through the media.Recently there has been overhyped about size and selective plays being shown to create a sense of hype about lengthy players.

I hate to break the news to you but 70% of the time those same lengthy players struggled all day vs speed on 1v1 drills and team activities.

Specifically Nahshon Wright, Isarel Mukuamu & Jabril Cox

The game of football is played on a field that is 100 yard x 53 yards not a sliver of sidewalk that is 3 yard wide & 100 yard deep.

All of the players I mentioned got their ankles broken by Tony Pollard & Amari Cooper in pretty much every matchup. The length (Z-axis) is useful when going in a straight line for QBs to throw but when receivers cuts in , out or cross them over with double move the length (Z-axis) is useless in X & Y direction when the receiver has 5 yards of SEPARATION and those extra 4” are useless.

In addition Kelvin Jospeh (5’-11”) put the CLAMPS on CD Lamb (6’-2”) in their matchup, but McCarthy was to egotistical to release that footage.

I’m tired of all the talk I want to see factual trial of Speed vs Size in training camp specially more of Kelvin Joseph vs CD Lamp to set the record straight.

In addition DE Golston & Basham long arms didn’t do poo against OT Knight, Steele & Ball and got stoned walled during pass rushing drills.

Its going to be hard to convince these hopeful homers of anything different. I have been trying to tell them that Wright is little more than a project that will get torched over the middle by smaller/quick receivers. Golston is another painful conversation.

First, I don't think length by itself is a negative. I player can be tall, fast and athletic. The NBA if full of guys who can move quickly despite their height. It's not like any of the guys you mention were first round picks. The fact is, they are flawed players in one way or another which is why they were picked on day 2 and 3, and frankly, Wright probably should have been picked on day 3. It is the job of the Cowboys coaches to get the most out of them.

As for Joseph, I have been saying since the draft he has the potential to be the best CB on the team, and maybe even in this draft class. He has all the tools he just needs to make football a priority.

You are just a Dak-hater. :)
And that $15M RB will be breaking some long ones this year. Did you not see the videos of him 'working it' and then the video of him juking Jaylon out of his jock?

? Didn’t post anything to do with Dak

But OTA videos mean little, everyone is in the shape of their lives, and everyone is going to have a great year, and everyone will have an improved defense to stop everyone who’ll have an improved offense

Tough one. Many lengthy players lack the agility required to mirror WR's. Sherman is an exception. An extreme exception.

You can waste a ton of draft picks trying to find that guy who is tall but has the agility of shorter dude. That's why most of the top CB's are 5-10 to 6-1. Sherman is the only one on the top 15 list taller than 6-1.

Less agile players in coverage must be physical, this is common sense. A zone scheme will help or physical man scheme but I wouldn't expect a 1v1 drill in space to favor the slower player..

Hopefully they do more of 1v1 drills to see what areas they need more help and hone in on those techniques & fundamentals!

Keep in mind, these are 2nd, 3rd & 4th round rookies playing against seasoned veterans in Cooper and Lamb as well as the Cowboys OL. Nothing to worry about at this point....be great if they step up and show progress but dont understand why posters are bashing players and coaches at the 1st OTA and they haven't even put on the pads yet

So you’re telling me that rookies, second- and third-day draft picks, in their very first appearance on the field in the pros, (in shorts and no pads), with no experience in the defense they’re learning, are getting beaten by very successful and experienced NFL veteran receivers who know the offensive system inside and out?

We’re doomed.
