Only thing is how much bulk Neal has added to play LB. It may end up hampering his ability to effectively play safety. I know we plan to use him in coverage a lot, but not sure to what extent. I've heard reports he's built like a brick house now and LB won't be an issue.

I listened to what Broadus said. If I were a player and he said crap like that about me trying to start trouble, I would punch him in the face.

Why do players even bother to talk to reporters? Almost all are trying to tear them down. Just ignore them and let those reporters and their sources do what they love to do, rumor monger.

None of them are 6'4" and all of them played in a different era.

Show me the 6'4" DBs in the NFL today making plays. It's just not likely Mukuamu can overcome the frame.

I've also heard and read that free safety is a key position in this defense.

Can't say I'm in love with Kazee and not much else.

Was wondering if they may look at Wilson in that role. Tough to say or know much until we see some things....

I wonder if Neal isn't still truly a DB in a 4-2-5 type of alignment. Even a 3-3-5 thing.

Essentially just replacing a LB with a DB in a pass happy league.

I think Wilson is a player better going forward than reverse. I can’t see him being in the mix at free safety. And right now it sounds like his hold on the strong safety spot is slipping.

Makes me even more concerned about FS.

Seems like its Kazee, then off a cliff to Kearse, and....I don't even want to say the name of the dude with the DT initials. He cannot be on this team.

Surely they can't expect a guy like Mukamu to be ready to go anytime soon. Maybe they do.

If I had to guess, I would say that Kazee is the present and Mukuamu is the (hoped for) future at free safety.

While this may be true remember that after taxes whatever he has made in salary has been cut by about 40%. By the time he does the obligatory "buy mama a house" and such what's left for him isn't much more than what guys like us make. Then if he is REALLY smart he sits on as much of that money as he can until he gets to that second contract. If he is like most of these kids the day he signed the number of "family members" and homeboys coming at him with their hands out numbered in the hundreds. I just hope he's strong enough mentally to tell them all to pound sand. It would probably be cheaper and less stressful for him to live full time in Frisco and not give them his address!

and if he lives in texas he saves some money on state income tax too. i can't imagine even at home in LA he isn't renting his own place and is still living with his parents. any buy momma a house action (which is warranted imo) is mortgage payments anyway so he should have plenty still in the bank. more than most his age. it's fighting off the moochers and all the other distant relatives that all of a sudden are close to you that is hard.

Don't forget Ronnie Lott transitioned from all pro corner to all pro safety about midway through his career.. Ronnie is every bit of 6'3". If I guy can play he can play.. It won't take long for for us to see if Izzy has the goods.

Yeah it all boils down to being smart with your money.. and I'm afraid most 20 somethings simply are not equipped to manage that kind of money... and if you come from a small town country background or from "the hood" nobody you know is either. So you are left to trust some stranger to handle your money for you, try to go it alone or trust some "cousin" who took an accounting course in junior college. The truly smart ones live a fairly basic lifestyle until they either sign a monster contract or until they retire whichever comes first. Remember Alfred Morris drove his late 1980's Honda his whole career? Marshawn Lynch famously never cashed any of his game checks while he was playing. He lived off his signing bonuses until he retired. Obviously those are extreme examples but it can be done.

My neighbor who used to play for the Saints tells me that the league spends a ton of time trying to educate guys on how to manage their money but most guys in their 20's aint tryin to hear a word of it. They can't wait to go make it rain somewhere.. LOL! Thanks to his spending habits he has to work as a mechanic now. But he says he is about to hit whatever the age threshold is for collecting that NFL pension.. so he apparently played long enough to qualify and apparently it's going to pay him a lot more than his current job.

Yeah dude is the kind of ball hawking FS we have needed here since.. George Teague? I do worry about his size though.. By all accounts he's 185 pounds soaking wet these days. Good luck bringing Gronk to the ground at that size. But he should be fast enough to get there and jump on his back and ride him till help comes! LOL!

Those are good odds in Vegas so I know how your playing your cards,, but its very clear they are coveting and seeking some length in this back seven, the roster can not be denied,,, so thats also playing a good hand in Vegas when your holding a few with those measurables.
Just hit on one and most will love seeing this defense start really changing its profile.
