thers like 2 other threads om the exact subject and BTW its not surprise or some cray new concept..:LB rush the passer and comig in we knew MP used to be a DE and a RB and in college he showed he can do it ALL..its why hes first round pick..so the obsession's they are reinventing the wheel is rediculius..it doesnt need to be talked about so much..im betting JS will be used in very similar way in Quinns defense..they use more of hybrid 3-4 means your DE/LB are actually OLBs that rush the passer more..

not new concept..JS has also showed hes pretty good at this..

And as i've often said on posts and threads, it's not so much how often and how much we blitz,..but it's how we design the way we blitz...

instead of just senting a blitzer straight up the middle and getting stonewalled against a blitz- blocker, creatively design blitzers like Parson, where he's on the move,
where he's inside and between the gaps of the interior blockers ..or Parson is in on a stunt or twist en route to the QB,

i'm hoping Quinn and Edwards are a lot better in scheming blitzes and pass rush packages than the previous DC coaches.

Exactly. It’s not really “experimenting”. This was/should have been the plan the whole time with Parsons.

By now we have all seen highlights of what made him a Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award winner, but what gets me the most excited about seeing Parsons in the silver & blue is his elite pass-rushing ability. BOOM!

I hope the Cowboys experiment with Parsons at RB. Might torque a certain RB off and light a fire under him. Special red zone package.

I hope he brings it and lights a fire under Jaylons butt! Those two and a healthy LVE can be very scary.
No fire there. I would rather hope Cox is legit. Jaylon is as soft a crushed velvet. He fits the stupid "Hot Boyz" moniker. Yuck!

I like this very much but......................... they have to be careful of making him a jack of all trades, master of none.

How can they experiment with something that's already been done? They watched his film and know he was a highly recruited DE prior to coming to Penn St.

Yep.. big fast guy with great athleticism and agility can probably get to the QB.. Who knew? Parsons is probably much quicker and more agile than Jaylon or LVE. His ability to evade the blitz pickup guy is going to be superior to those guys from day one. However I think people need to pump the brakes on his having like 15 sacks or some such. Send him into battle against guys who outweigh him by 75-100 pounds too often and you're likely to get him hurt or at the very least have him take a beating that slows him down in the execution of his other responsibilities. Blitzing him needs to be the dessert.. not the main course..

It seems like pass rushing was one of the few areas that Jaylon excels in.
