3 reasons why:
1. Overall better team on paper.
2. Full offseason to to adequately prepare for season.
3. Better vibe going into the season. No contract drama or really any other drama.

3 reasons why not:
1. Coaching, specifically MM
2. Poor culture
3. Jerry is still a narcissist.

Reasons why
1. Micah Parsons
2. Quinn will help this defense
3. Healthy offense line will be creating holes for Zeke

Reasons why they wont
1. Dak may take more time to get back up to game speed.
2.OLine wont stay healthy mainly Tyron Smith
3. Schedule is tougher than people think and division is getting better.

1.our injured are back...THANK GOD.
2.a real off-season,with real football stuff.
3.micah parsons is gonna kick so much ***.

3 reasons why not..........
Are you this positive of a person in everyday life?

If so, I applaud you. It's something that's not easily done these days in my humble opinion.

I also like your reasons why we will be good.

nothing new @jnday, Sean lee got de-cleated and nobody, even Lee, did anything about it. Heck Terrell Owens could come out at pregame and take a dump at mid-field and nobody on this team would do anything about it. Well, some guys might see if he would sign their jerseys.
That also angered me.

How no one ever took the 15 yards and decimated Tate is beyond me. Telling for this team's culture for too many years.

This team needs some players like Randy White, Haley, Garrison, Eric Williams. the list goes on and on. I'm hoping Parsons turns into the tough, mean, nasty player we need.

Don't have a 3 reasons why Cowboys will or won't.
I believe there will be a let down based on the defense stepping up but the offense not holding up their end of meeting all the lofty expectations.

The group think tank of Moore /McCarthy/Mcadoo along with performance by Prescott fail to live up to all the hype.

While all eyes will be on the defense to crap the bed yet again, they end up meeting the challenge of mediocrity or slightly better while it's the offense that fails to deliver on all the offseason expectations.

I'm feeling this year's high volume of pass attempts and yards are unfortunately combined with many interceptions.

My expectations are somewhat akin to the Jameis Winston 2019 stats season. Lots of yards along with lots of picks.

Just another opinion.
I don't understand why you believe we will get picked 30 times on offense. Dak has never been that guy and we have very solid receivers.

Reasons we could be significantly better. (Sorry but the NFC Championship game is a gigantic jump that will take more than 3 things lining up.)

1) Health. Single most important factor to any team's chances to be a contender.
2) Motivation. The players are clearly on notice that the fans & FO have issues with their performance. Jobs aren't safe.
3) Hopefully we have people in place with better understanding of what is needed to compete and maybe they have churned the roster enough to have the players capable of executing the concepts.

Reason we could not be:
1) We seem to always find a way.

4 Reasons Why:
1. The defense can't be any worse, right?
2. A healthy-ish offensive line will allow Zeke and Pollard to be the focal point of the offense. HOPEFULLY.
3. We have the best QB in the division and that is always a nice advantage to have.
4. I think CeeDee is going to really emerge this year as a legit #1 receiver.

4 Reasons We Wont:

1. Kellen Moore decides he wants to be overall pass happy instead of doing what has proven to work. He decides he'd rather call 3 pass plays instead of 3 run plays when we're inside the opponents 5 yard line. Let's stop with the cute stuff and play smash mouth football.
2. McCarthy continues to make bone head decisions while worrying too much about what "analytics" say instead of what the smart call would be.
3. We're always 1 or 2 injuries away from imploding. We've proven to not be a team that can just fill spots and get good production. If we lose a couple key players we basically become an easy win for our opponents.
4. The defense was so bad last year that it can improve on that and still be a bad defense. So, even with an improved defense from last year it could still spell our downfall.

I am going to define “a breakout season” as this: Reaching at least the Conference championship game or better for the first time in a quarter century.

So with that definition in mind, I’m going to list 3 reasons why we WILL have a breakout year, followed by 3 reasons we won’t have a breakout season.
3 REASONS WHY WE WILL
  1. Dak’s return plus a healthy offensive line for a full season makes this offense more potent than ever.
  2. Big Mac makes better in game decisions and Kellen Moore has grown after his first year as OC into an excellent offensive mind.
  3. The addition of Dan Quinn as a quality DC plus adding Parsons’ athleticism, plus the growth of several other rookies makes this defense come together late in the season to become a physical, tough defense just in time for the playoffs.
3 REASONS WHY WON’T
  1. The OL (specifically Tyron Smith) cannot stay healthy, thus making the offense constantly shuffling different OL combos making it difficult for the O to gain continuity and confidence.
  2. The soft culture and lack of toughness fostered by the Jones meddling continues and the team folds when times get tough.
  3. The new defense and its new infusion of youth never get it together and it continues to not get TOs, sacks or pressure. Bottom third of the league again in performance.
What you think? Give me your reasons why we will have a breakout season or 3 reasons why we won’t.
Breakout season

1. Dak returns and he picks up we’re he left off minus the turnovers.

2. Zeke returns to being 2016 form and becomes the most feared offensive weapon on the team once again.

3. Tyron, Collins, and Martin play at least 13 games together making our offensive line great again.

Reasons we won’t

1. Season ending Injuries to Dak, Tyron, Martin, Cee Dee, Parsons or multiple injuries to the secondary and defensive line.

2. The WFT makes a trade to get a quarterback (Watson, Rodgers, ex) without giving up anyone on their defense.

3. This one actually will happen, I think the team’s talent is overrated. We will get exposed even if the players are healthy. Dak is a good quarterback but he is not special. Zeke is a fullback now. DLaw is way overrated. Our receivers are good but we have no TO in his prime. The offensive line in depending on 3 guys who have been injured the last two years. Don’t get me started on Jaylon, LVE, Hill, Brown, Lewis and the other misfits on the defense. This team could implode.

Good post brother.:omg:

This season is pretty easy to predict. We will have an offense that puts up gaudy stat lines but is overall inefficient and inconsistent. We will have a defense that is improved (can't possibly be worse) but continues to give up more big plays then they create. The focus in big D will continue to be developing personal and team brands.

@DandyDon52 1) The QB audibles. They say the play call is usually one run and one pass with the QB ultimately choosing to audible to one or the other. Some OCs do not allow for audibles but that is if the QB is young or stupid. Dak is ultimately responsible for the actual play chosen.

2) The play when Dak broke his leg and dislocated his ankle was only his second run of the game. Where on the field is irrelevant. How do you know Dak didn’t audible to a QB draw, if it actually was one? The team has said in previous years they would like Dak to run more. Dak has been choosing to run less recently in my opinion.

3) Dak dislocated his ankle before contact. Someone posted a video here in slow motion with a doctor analyzing. Major injury occurred before contact and was made worse with contact. If Dak doesn’t have the non-contact injury first, he likely does not get the second contact injury.

I don't understand why you believe we will get picked 30 times on offense. Dak has never been that guy and we have very solid receivers.

While limited to a small games played sample size last year, I thought his fumbles and picks were telling based on only those 5 games.
Although your historical assumption is a good one concerning his past ball security, I just believe the volume of pass attempts in Moore's offense this year is gonna lead to a whole lotta picks because I don't view him as an effective high volume thrower.

Divisional opponents have made many improved defensive roster changes since his last full year and road woes and performances against above .500 opponents remain as well.

But ultimately, my personal opinion is all.

I usually agree with your thoughts on the Cowboys but not this time.

I do think having Dak for 16 games will make for a much more consistent offense. That is pretty obvious. I also think the OL will be healthy and that too will be a plus. But, I don't think a Leopard loses his spots. I have no faith McCarthy's in game decisions will change much. He never seemed to show any remorse after his bad decisions last year. And I have even less faith in Kellen Moore changing his play calls inside the 10 yard line. We'll see about Quinn. His defense in Atlanta wasn't very good and it still depends on the players. We can hope.

On the other side, from everything I am reading Tyron was dealing with neck issues for years and he is saying for the first time he is not feeling pain and can move his neck in ways he was unable to in the past. I am optimistic he will give up 16 games this year.

So the reasons for optimism are the offense will be healthy and the defense appears to be deep in the secondary. There is a definite improvement at safety just letting Xavier Woods move on.

On the other hand, the DL is not much better than it was last year, especially in the middle. Having Gregory start at DE I think will help but we need reason for optimism that the interior DL is going to be better.

Bad coaching loses games. Good coaching is just avoiding getting in the way of the players.

The soft culture was still ongoing towards the end of the season, so the team would have to totally reverse decades of softness. The character of the team was evident when Dalton took a dirty hit and there was not one teammate that come to his defense or even to see if he was okay. What kind of a team allows that to happen without having some kind of response? It was one of the most embarrassing shows of their lack of toughness and character that any Cowboy team has ever shown.
Which, of course, has nothing to do with this season or the season before. Not to mention the fact that there were 6 Cowboys surrounding him immediately.

Honestly the idea that they didn't start a brawl meaning they're not tough is so stupid.

Since you've become the unchallenged, undefeated, undisputed likes champion of the world, I feel you've been resting on you laurels. Some may even say complacent.

Pick up your game Risen, your better than this.

Lol. It's true but always be cognizant of his mastery of sarcasm. So much so that the line is consistently blurred on whether he is being serious or sarcastic.
Because he's the master at it, and I'm a big fan of sarcasm myself.

Game recognize game.

Reasons against:

1) HC decisions
2) Injuries
3) No penalty for losing

Reasons for:

1) QB healthy
2) OL healthy
3) Draft and FA paid off for the defense

That #1 in reasons against is a real concern. It wasn't just one time last season and this guy has 10+ years in as a HC and his defense and explanation of those decisions didn't make it any better.

This season will come done to what every successful season, 14, 16 and 18 has come down to, health. When this team is at the top of that health chart, good things happen. When they are in the lower half, losing seasons.

To me it is simple. Stay in the top quadrant of games missed by starters and it will be a good season because with the starters, it is a talented team.

End up in the lower third of games missed by starters and it will be a poor season because this is not a team of depth. Too much money in the top 22 for health not to be critical.
