Honestly, the Jones boys will have to earn my trust with results on the field not their typical verbal hype.
Am I excited about the upcoming season? Yes. Do I have some hope? Yes. Do I believe all the stuff being said about how good we are going to be? I will believe it when it happens. Not before.
We all know the NFL is a business first, and a sport second. I enjoy football very much, especially the Cowboys. But I have become increasingly weary of all the hype and hoopla that surrounds my favorite team, especially this time of year.
Here’s a typical definition of HYPE: to promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its importance.
So hype in regard to the Cowboys can be to intensively publicize (often exaggerating) how good the product is going to be in advance of it happening. That sounds like the last quarter century to me. And by the way, I have no problem with any fan who does buy the hype.
Do I enjoy “Cowboys hype”? Honestly, sometimes I do. Sometimes the fan in me wants to believe every good possibility about a certain player or the team as a whole. Other times, especially the last decade, I get sick of all the hype from the leadership of this franchise that hasn’t come close to living up to the “secret sauce” comments about how good we are going to be. Honestly, the Jones boys will have to earn my trust with results on the field not their typical verbal hype.

Ya know, this hype thing is nothing new. The main reason so many players hated the Cowboys back in the 60's/70's was this coverage they got. It was really hard to explain but this team has always had that glitz and glamour thing going on, they should have been in LA.
I can remember the first time I saw them on TV and then my first game at the Cotton Bowl, they were not a good team but there was something about them. I think the uniform had something to do with it and the name. Man, what young boy back then didn't want to be a cowboy? They were our heroes and larger than life.
Gotta admit it was good branding. The sheriff star cowboy link was a good choice. Doubt they'd be as popular with a (no offense OSU) Pistol Pete type guy or cowboy hat thing on their helmets.
Schramm was the visionary, he set the wheels in motion and began setting up the largest regional radio network in the country and went wall to wall in Mexico and started that well before the team arrived. He brought the Cheerleaders out and embraced and cultivated America's Team and Landry didn't like any of it but Tex knew, he knew branding before the term was applied. He built something more than just a football team.Gotta admit it was good branding. The sheriff star cowboy link was a good choice. Can you imagine the Hail Mary ride?

I don’t think so. The hype ginned up by the Jones Cartel is usually kool aid. But not all the hype we get is from them.Is this one and the same as drinking the Kool-Aid?

Dallas Cowboys = OVER hype every damn season.
Jerry feels hype is easier than fielding great teams. And as long as fans such as raunching and Rockfart buy into it and he keeps making money, who cares?
