Born in Bedford and going to high school in Allen, Texas (both suburbs of Dallas), you’d think Kyler Murray was a born and bred Cowboys fan. But, this was apparently not the case.

Hanging out with Sports Illustrated for the release of his magazine cover with FaZe Clan on Thursday, Murray was asked about his NFL allegiances as a kid.

His answer to to whether or not he was a Cowboys fan was a resounding “(expletive) no!”

“They were always a**,” the Cardinals QB said.

He later elaborated that he was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings growing up.

(The Cowboys meet Murray and the Cards twice this year.)

They don’t play the Cardinals twice in the regular season. The only teams the Cowboys play twice is NFC East teams.

We have a preseason game against them, pretty sure he’s referring to that.
I’m sure he is but preseason games don’t count because the starters won’t be playing much if any. It was hype.

I just want to say I posted this today early this morning too when I saw nothing but was dropped for moderation. I thought it was his comment but now maybe think it was because I used “diss”. Just putting it on the record:lmao2:

Grew up in Arlington in the early 2000’s, I hate the “we sucked” excuse cause you support the home team regardless.

What’s so special about the Vikes? He was probably in early elementary school when the Culpepper-Moss years finished up and that was their most exciting squad. They haven’t fared too much better than us this quarter-century.

8 playoff wins and 3 NFCCG isn’t too bad in context

Well as Patrick Swayze said on Roadhouse: Opinions vary.

Littered with mediocre to bad seasons in between. I would argue they’ve had marginally more success but we are still both in the same general tier of NFL teams. Mostly competitive with occasionally dominant seasons, but rarely if ever strong SB contenders.

He was born in 1997. The Cowboys have sucked his whole life.

Meanwhile, he never lost a football game in his life through high school during the same time.

Makes sense.

Makes better sense if he was a bandwagon Patriots fan if he was all about winning....

The vikings? Growing up he missed their nice little run with Daunte and Randy Moss. I guess he saw a very late in his career Farve slinging the rock and that’s what made him a fan?
