Look at the measurables, McCarthy would have passed on Lawerence Taylor because he didn’t have the length & size.
That’s ridiculously nonsensical.

First, your post was a comparison of Anae to Taylor, not how McCarthy would view them, so you are trying to grasp onto something new since your comparison is so weak.

Second, even if true (it’s not) that would mean McCarthy screwed up, not that Anae would ever be remotely at Taylor’s level. But it’s not true - McCarthy drafted a much smaller LB than Anae this past draft (Cox). Remember, Taylor was a LB, not a DE.

Third - the “measurables” dramatically favored Taylor over Anae, who doesn’t have anything remotely close to the speed and quickness to rush the QB that Taylor did.

And finally, Taylor was a player every NFL team coveted going into the draft, and Anae was a 6th round pick. Nothing about Anae’s talents or how he was viewed by NFL teams compares favorably to Taylor.

I do sometimes wonder if people have any thought at all to their board reputation; or if like a used car salesman swearing a lemon is cherry, they just don't care.

Bradlee Anae is fighting for a roster spot while Gregory is a starting DE.
They really aren't in the same conversation at this point.
Anae would need to make 2 or 3 leaps and Gregory would need to be injured or otherwise out for this to happen.

That makes no sense because nobody is claiming those guys will get 10 sacks.

So, what your comment amounts to is an admission you have absolutely no evidence to support your claim

It would be appropriate to note, however, that those guys have better measurables for their positions, and were viewed more hightly by scouts and teams going into the draft.

By the way, I'm still curious what point you think you made by comparing Anae's height, weight and arm length to that of Lawrence Taylor ….

Just get Anae large quantities of Cocaine and he'll be the greatest player ever...:lmao:

We would see Basham reach 10 sacks before Anae. Though I think Anae has a chance to take the next step and actually get involved in some games, maybe earning 4-5 sacks.

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different results and that’s what Cowboys are doing with Gregory. Ten sacks in four season isn’t nothing to be bragging about even though there is potential there.

The breakout star on the DL is going to be Bradlee Anae with 10 + sacks & 4 forced fumbles minimum this upcoming season with the motor of Lawerence Taylor. He is the protoypical DE for Quinn’s defense that can rush in 4-3 hands down or stand up and play OLB like Von Miller. Unlike Gregory his motor doesn’t stop, he is stouter against the run and brings a whole another level of-nastiness QBs fear.

Bradlee Anae
Height: 6’-3”
Arm length: 32”
Weight: 257 lbs

Lawrence Taylor
Height: 6’-3”
Arm length: 34”
Weight: 240 lbs

..... your basing his play next season off of what 2 years ago in college and good measurements lol. He has to play first man. He may be good but won't have nearly as many opportunities as 94 will hVe this year

I get people have different opinions and/or players they like or support(I’m guilty of it myself).. I even was on the Bradley Anae train myself and I still like Anae’s potential..but, C’mon

Your sorely under estimating Randy Gregory. He’s a beast and will prove it this year, barring injury. He finally had an offseason and seemingly is on the right track mentally. Last year he performed well considering Dallas’s lack of help at DT and the fact that most teams were just running the ball all over us.

Again, I hope Anae also proves his worth, but he’ll be lucky to make the team at this point.. w/ the additions of Basham (whom I also like), Armstrong (whom the team loves), and rookie “do-it-all” Gholston. Randy on the other hand, will be your starter and You’ll be happy about it.

PFF last season:
Randy Gregory in Week 11:

-Pass Rush Snaps: 13 (69th-most among EDGEs)
-Pressures: 4 (ranks t-13th)
-Pressure Rate: 30.8% (ranks 2nd)

I don’t know how to post Twitter, so I’ll just copy/paste what @john9williams stated:

“Randy Gregory from week 8 to week 17 per @PFF

11th in Pass Rush Win Rate.
10th in Pass Rush Productivity.

It's Randy Gregory szn.

@PFF_Cowboys” this

I liked Anae as a 5th round pick but he is not on the same planet as Randy Gregory with regards to athletic ability.

If not for the Weed issue, Gregory would have been a top 10 pick and maybe top 5.

Gregory's measurables are on par with DeMarcus Ware.

Gregory's 10-yard time of 1.50 is insane. Very few CBs or WRs have have kind of time.
- CB Horn: 1.55
- CB Surtain: 1.57
- Von Miller: 1.57
- Bruce Irvin: 1.55
- Micah Parsons: 1.59

Also the OP claims Gregory is 240 pounds which is BS. Gregory was over 260 last season.

I think they are both scrubs to be honest. Anae doesnt fit a 3-4 DE and is bad against the run. ONLY way he makes the team is as a situational pass rusher. Just dont see it. Maybe they give him one more year. He has pretty much been a ghost since he has been here. Players with talent typically show up and show out.
Anae would be an OLB in the 3-4.

The question should be who is Anae really in comp with to retain a depth role during camp, I believe these guys are going to be moved around a bit, still trying to figure out where they fit.. RDE/LDE DPR?
Anae
Carter
Armstrong
Golston
Basham
Kamara
All share very similar BIOs, some chess pieces to move around for sure.

There is a big difference in 32" arms and 34" arms.

The general range for arm length is 29" to 37".
The general range for height is 5'6" to 6'8".

Based on that:
32" arm length is proportional to: 5'9-7/8" height
34" arm length is proportional to: 6'2-1/4" height

Anae did not get a sack last year, and he only played 6 snaps.

Or are you commenting on an OTA sack while wearing shorts? lol

Just FY for a relative reference:

Comparison based on sacks per snap played:
D.Ware: 1 sack per 76 games played (2012 to 2016 because I don't have snap counts before 2012)
D.Law: 1 sack per 88 games played
R.Gregory: 1 sack per 99 games played

I feel like the team would have let Anae play last year if he was the second coming of LT. Anae might not even make the team this year.

I really like some of your crazy *** posts. They are fun and get people talking.

How much do you want to place on a friendly wager? A signature of our choosing for the duration of the next offseason? Money? I want a piece of this action.

I am under on the 10 sacks and 4 FF.
