Why all the negativity?

Serious question....I was a player or coach for 36years and every year brought new hope. We busted our butts in the weight room, film room, 7 on 7 tournaments and by the time the season started we had hope. We had some great years and some bad years, but none of the teams that I was involved with ever quit, cry, pout....as a fan, I get the frustration, but why all the negatives? Why make yourself miserable? What's wrong with just enjoying it and not complain about things you have no control of?
It's cool to have different options and outlooks....I actually enjoy reading a lot of the negative posts, it's pretty comical. To each their own, I guess....I just don't get it.
Salud! I'll enjoy a drink while some of you start attacking me! Lol! Be happy!

Because 25 years.

Nobody is miserable. Nobody cares much anymore. This team is an afterthought.

So Jerry and his son screwed up all other teams that haven't won in years? Lame excuse...like I said, to each there own. I do like the banter, though.

What's your explanation for the Cowboys having 4 playoff wins in 25 years? You realize that if you look at the league over that 25 years, those 4 playoff wins would rank them in the bottom 6-7 of the league, right? That's horrendous for a proud franchise and it's been a 25 year run, so not some random short time frame here.

Coaches have changed. Players have changed. There is one constant throughout that 25 years, what is it?

Put it another way. Over that 25 year period, 31 teams have changed their GM at least once. What team hasn't? The closest run comes from Ozzie Newsome who was GM from 1996 to 2018. But he stayed that long because over his 23 years, the Ravens won 16 playoff games and 2 SBs.

and its our job to
I get it Ranch. There are some people out there who are always negative. You know the type. You go to a party or family gathering or just a get together with friends. There’s always a handful who do nothing but complain. It’s how they live. It’s what makes them happy. It’s their character. They can’t change because it’s their DNA. It’s sad but it’s reality.
Its your job to elevate those that need assistance,, the dark side is a bad place.

I don't have to explain it. That's the beauty of my outlook.

From a pure entertainment perspective, negative is a hell of a lot more fun.

You telling me this would be a fun place with a bunch of rahrah's backslapping and making SB plans?

The only arguing we'd see would be "hey, he's great". "No, he's greater than great, he's stupendous". "You outgreated me and made me feel like a hater, your Momma wears a mattress on her back and follows troop trains". Ok, THAT would be fun.

What would this place be like without the sarcasm and posters are just funnier when they're pissed and venting.

And people do go on the ride. But it doesn't mean that they have to do so blindly and with complete loyalty where they ignore the realities facing a team they root for. The reality is that history is a better indicator of future success than you want to think. There's a reason this team has 4 playoff wins in 25 years. And it's not bad luck.

The reason is that Jerry and his son simply have struggled to build a consistent, SB caliber team for any stretch of time over the last 25 years. Whether it's been dumb roster decisions or questionable assistant hirings or bad decisions with HCs, the Jones have found a way to undercut the few good things they do. Again, 25 years is a pretty strong track record here.

And that's why people are often hesitant to get on the "hey, this is the year" bandwagon. I suspect many fans who are no longer willing to give the benefit of the doubt, did at one point, but after continual gut punches they've learned. So now they are simply in the class of I'll believe it when I see it. And that's a logical and fair place to be. It doesn't mean they can't enjoy a good season or a good playoff run if it happens. It just means that after years of blind loyalty, they've learned their lesson.

I'll good with that. I'm smart enough to know what deficiencies we have, but I'm smart enough not to let them sway my loyalty.

The problem is there seems to be an insinuation that those critical of the team aren't loyal, which is preposterous. Being positive about the team, even when you know you shouldn't be, isn't some sort of badge of honor one thinks it is. It doesn't make one a better fan. That's the point people are making.

Fandom comes in all shapes and sizes. Some choose to ignore everything and think the team is gonna be awesome. Some toe the line and admit that they hope this is the year but can't turn a blind eye to the real problems the franchise has faced. Others have been beaten down so much by mediocre football with no real success in 25 years and that manifests in disappointment and negative posts.

Frankly, one can argue those that are highly critical of the team are even more loyal than the homers because they continue to watch and root for the team despite all the BS we've put up with as fans over the years.

I don't see a problem with this either.

Who are we to judge the fandom of others? I try not to do it, let everyone support the team in the manner they deem fit.

Because, like a lot of us, you do not demand that they win to retain your loyalty.

The funniest posts I've seen and not just here are the "I'm all about winning. Anything less than the SB and I am not on board. That's how I measure it". They've been doing this for as long as I have and we haven't even sniffed a NFCCG.

If all the husbands and wives complaining about their spouses acted on that, we would not have a population. Complaining and being negative can be cathartic for some and their way of staying interested and involved.

I also give a cushion because of all of the negative crap we've been through and it just doesn't seem to be slowing down. I woke up in an OK mood this morning until I saw 13 people were shot on 6th Street in Austin last night. Party central for Texas and that happens? We can just take so much of this crap without overflowing.
