Randy Gregorys contract is up after this year.

It is an assumption that he will have a monster year, but I think he will. The pretense of the thread is that Gregory is top 3 or so in sacks. The cowboys are paying a high priced DE, QB, WR, LB'er, and offensive tackles.

1. Can the cowboys have 2 high priced DE's
2. For people who know the cap, do they currently have the money to sign him
3. If the cowboys sign Gregory, what major players can't they sign
4. If they do sign him, I am assuming that will mean cheap contracts and league minimums at a lot of positions. Do you think the cowboys have filled their roster holes well, and have they done well with all the young guys on their team

As far as the money and cap issues on this thread, if you don't know the books and the cap, don't answer that part

This is the one player I would expect to give a discount......RG should be extremely nice to the Jones when it comes to his next contract..lets hope he does.

I doubt he will, he will want what he is worth. It will suck to have to watch him in another uniform. Which is why I am asking the cap questions, because I don't know

Of course he won't and he shouldn't. The way he pays the Jones's back is by playing well not giving a "discount".

Ususally i would agrre but RG being in the league still has alot to do with the Jones.....who have stuck by and paid him for very little play up to this point. I'm not saying he should play for peanuts but he should be down for a team friendly structure that pays him well.

You guys are worried about things that are happening after this upcoming season. Its like with Aldon Smith last year...everyone thought he was playing himself into a big deal...now he left and no one really cared. If Gregory has a bad year or gets hurt....nothing to worry about.

I am not worried, It is a team building money type issue. There is not a lot to talk about in June, and team formation/building and the cap is fairly interesting

You might be able to get him at a discount but if he has a really solid season it might be tough. I think Fletcher Cox contract ends this year too. He is DT but that might be something to consider.

contract friendly expected, but doesnt mean that Gregory comes in under market comp value, but he can do the term like Tyron has done.

RG should have a monster year. The Cowboys should also have a monster year. With the Jones boys in a good mood, I can see them doing what it takes to keep a few of the veterans that got them there, That includes RG... and MG, and LVE.

The salary cap will make a huge increase next year. Cowboys got this.

Do you know that for sure? Like I said, I don't know the cap, current contracts, and money aspect well. A top 3 L DE is usually the highest paid player behind the qb. We have our R DE in that position, so i am not sure

All signs do point towards the NFL getting a huge raise from the networks..thats a sign that the cap will go up. But it wouldnt be the first time a group of rich guys pocketed the money :)

Um, it should be both. No other team had a high rnd pick jack them around and contribute as little as RG did during his weed suspensions.

As it is we haven't played a single down this year and we're projected to be $18m to $22M over the cap even with the increase in 2022.
Its complicated by the fact we don't know who's going to show and who's going to fold. Or how the rookies are going to acclimate themselves to the pro game.

When you've got spending at $231M and a cap of $208M, something has to be done. And likely the FO couldn't tell you right now what that something is.
Still, we're one of 4 teams over the 2022 cap.

Best bet is we'll get a look at the plans as this season plays out.

Here's a look at the numbers:

10.5 sacks in his career and can't stay on the field. He shouldn't be breaking the bank. 4 years 28 million total, with major get out clauses should be more than enough.
