Born in Bedford and going to high school in Allen, Texas (both suburbs of Dallas), you’d think Kyler Murray was a born and bred Cowboys fan. But, this was apparently not the case.

Hanging out with Sports Illustrated for the release of his magazine cover with FaZe Clan on Thursday, Murray was asked about his NFL allegiances as a kid.

His answer to to whether or not he was a Cowboys fan was a resounding “(expletive) no!”

“They were always a**,” the Cardinals QB said.

He later elaborated that he was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings growing up.

(The Cowboys meet Murray and the Cards twice this year.)

LOL @ anyone offended at this. He has never seen or understood a Cowboys team that was actually "good" or had a chance at doing anything. Dude was born in 1997. I just remember him last year getting the Pac-Man Big Dots and destroying us all game.. Until proven otherwise, he isn't wrong....

Well I guess these Detroit kids are confused because a lot of them are Lions fans. A lot of them are Cowboys fans too so go figure.

I never liked Murray. Truth is, I never really gave him much thought either way so I don't really care if he likes the Cowboys or not.

But his words are interesting. We should all pay attention to them. He's a young player in the NFL who has never seen a day where the Cowboys have ever been what many of us grew up watching them be. They have never mattered in his mind, one way or the other. He sees the Cowboys as I see him, basically.

Think about that for a second. This is what 30 years of being more concerned with ticket sales and merchandising will bring you.

I don't blame Murray for what he thinks. It's what we should all expect really.

Then no kid in Dallas should be a Cowboys fan then? Besides, that photo of him at the stadium in a Cowboys jersey proves he's a liar.

Being good or bad doesn’t determine your fandom lol. I don’t even remember the Super Bowls my heyday is the sorry Campo years I remember so vividly. Sure we never got a ring but there were some fun years during those Romo years.

Kyler doesn't seem to realize that he's setting himself up for a sound butt whooping! Keep it up, son!
Agitating a mad beast is no way to survive! It's really the quickest way to ensure your demise!

They did beat us but Kyler was anything but stellar passing that game.

They didn't beat us, they embarrassed us. The fact the Cards were able to do it without a solid passing game is more embarrassing, not less. If you're bad enough your opponent doesn't have to do it through the air. Tim Tebow made a living in college doing that. It shouldn't look that easy in the NFL. But Murray made it so. He threw for a buck 80 and they still won by like 4 touchdowns.

I doubt Murray was paying much attention from the day he was born until he was 5-6.

Besides, have you looked at the Vikes records at that time? They had a couple of good years when Murray was 2-3 years old — I’m thinking he wasn’t particularly aware — then 7 straight years of poor to mediocre teams. He certainly wasn’t latching onto a team because of their legacy of winning.

Odds are it was just childhood influences (parents, friends etc…) that colored his view, not an infant/preschool/grade school disdain for the Cowboys record.

Funny thing is that when Dallas played the Cards, they lost 38-10. As awful as our defense was, Murray had 188 passing. Dalton had 266. Not that it really matters.

LOL, that's like a woman going through your old photos to find a pic of you with your Prom date to make her point.

Kid was 6 years old in that pic probably. Most likely parent Cowboys fans made him wear the jersey. Wouldn't be insane, I put one on my 5 year old when we went to a game. She is 11 now and could care less about football. Parents can only do so much. Also, pretty sure he was able to form his own opinions as he got older. Doubt he is lying about how he feels about the Cowboys. Probably hates them more because his parents are blind homers...
