Today I turn 55, I've watched every play of every game since 1974. I used to cry when we lost, I even beat up my best friend in HS because he kept making fun of me cause his Commanders beat my Cowboys. As I grew up and life hit me in the face, my loyalty and fandom stayed the same, but my reaction to wins and losses changed. Other than my playful Garrett sucks rant, I now take it with a grain of salt, lime and tequila!

How do you take the wins and losses??

BTW, not looking for birthday wishes, it's understood. Salud!!

I'm 54 and I started watching the season of 1975 LOL. I used to take the losses poorly too because my expectations were high every year. But now the losses are not that big of a deal to me. Not like they used to be.

Oddly enough I don't think I've changed. The Cowboys have changed. I still took the playoff losses in 2007, 2014, and 2016 badly. When Dallas were always contenders, I took it bad. I still do, we're just rarely contenders.

Been a fan since 1975.
Watched as many games as I could.
Don't take the losses that hard anymore.
My expectations are seriously lower.
Happy birthday!
I’ve been watching since 1970, and there was a time when my mood was heavily affected by whether the Cowboys won or lost each week. Not anymore.

And yes, part of that is because expectations are lower, but I think age and life also teaches that there are more important things in the world than the Cowboys.

Not many … but some. Lol

family, friends and work are much higher priority.

I am old and watched the Cowboys when they wore leather helmets and no face masks and the cheerleaders were 6 old broads from the Polka Pub picking up some part time cash. They could also fill in on the OL in a pinch.

Happy Birthday, you young goat!

Been a fan since 60 when they came into the NFL and they were my co-favorite along with the Cardinals, which was the regional team for Little Rock. That existed for 5 years until the teams met and both were undefeated in 66 and I was in a dilemma, who do I pull for? I pulled for a tie and got it, how crazy was that?

The Cowboys began to inch above the Cards each year and then 1968 arrived and I began a heavy lean toward the Cowboys until the Ice Bowl, then I fell over and in love with a team that lost the big game, bridesmaids and chokers some said but I saw greatness on that frozen tundra that day. Most said they couldn't hang with a team built for those conditions but it took one great play for the Cowboys to lose that game. I just stood up and looked at those guys, their hands covered in frozen blood and mud and they were exhausted but I also looked at how the Packers players and fans took notice that day. They knew that finesse franchise, the bridesmaids and never a bride, had taken a huge step and they were arriving.

The game was different then, the players cared more and the rivalries mattered but that's because FA didn't exist. If it had, I do not think it would have been much different than today except the money wasn't big and the players needed off season jobs. Hell, most of the fans made more money than most of the players, those guys were just trying to extend their childhood longer when it was still a game more than a business.

SALUD my fellow fan ! You are one of my favorite posters.

Well, I will turn 68 in the middle of our NFCE run this season. I still get down when we lose and happier when we win. I know it is a game but less of a game than Friday Night Lights (which is less of a game than when I was in HS in the early 70's IMO). I still love the competition.

I became a fan in 1966 at 12 years old and the 1970's spoiled me somewhat like I think the last 20 years have spoiled the Patsies. Things are circular and I hope they come back around to our Cowboys being a dominant team.

With age I think we all get more tolerant and grow somewhat in wisdom. These 2 things temper my emotions for my team but not my love.

Happy Belated Birthday @Ranching

Wins and Losses only bother me for 48Hrs these days. Usually the excitement of the game film breakdown on Tuesdays completely dulls pains of losses.

At this point in my fandom, I am more focused on people development and leadership....
