I heard dak is better than Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Troy, Roger, Montana, Elway, Montana, Manning, Little Ben, Payton, and every quarterback past and present and future. *couch bs*

You may have heard that, but it’s an extreme opinion. Get over it! Most people don’t think that way.

Hype is cool I guess for stirring interest and generating enthusiasm. The younger version of myself might get caught up in it, but experiences have taught me to reconcile expectations and I’ve learned a couple of things:

One, no matter how much they dress it up as this sort of warrior-family, us v. world theatre, in the end it’s just football. And two, the games between the lines are what matter. Still gotta play.

So I can take it or leave it.

I ♡ the hype. Dallas has a wonderful young quarterback & team. There ISN'T one person who'll change me mind. Besides, the cry babies are all on ignore!

I love hype. Hype up E Smith as he breaks the all time rushing record. Hype up the team as the go for their third SB in 4 years. Hype up the new free agents Deon Sanders and Charles Haley.

Hype up this train wreck no thanks. Wake me up when you stop sucking.

...I use to buy into that. That was 10 yrs ago. Now, I just hope for good season. The Jason Garrett motto.

It's that time of year when hopes are high. I don't think anyone is believing what you call hype. It's all ways a wait and see for all teams in the new year. Injuries can and do happen and can derail a season if they happen to key players like they did to Dallas last year. But hope is good.

One question, what exactly has been exaggerated about player(s) this offseason?
The sixth round fat boy pick being an immediate starter and difference maker. The second round CB pick that has attitude problems that limited him to only playing 15 games in college stepping in and taking a starting spot. A couple mid-round DT picks stepping in and fixing the DT problems. This is just some expectations that I have read about the draft picks, but there are more for most positions on the team. I hope these claims and predictions come true, but I have no expectations and I sure don’t count on certain positions being fixed with rookies. It seems like every year there are high hopes and expectations. That is understandable, but most of these hopes and hype never pans out. If they did, Super Bowl wins would be a yearly thing. Some fans enjoy this time of the year, as they should.

We all know the NFL is a business first, and a sport second. I enjoy football very much, especially the Cowboys. But I have become increasingly weary of all the hype and hoopla that surrounds my favorite team, especially this time of year.

Here’s a typical definition of HYPE: to promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its importance.

So hype in regard to the Cowboys can be to intensively publicize (often exaggerating) how good the product is going to be in advance of it happening. That sounds like the last quarter century to me. And by the way, I have no problem with any fan who does buy the hype.

Do I enjoy “Cowboys hype”? Honestly, sometimes I do. Sometimes the fan in me wants to believe every good possibility about a certain player or the team as a whole. Other times, especially the last decade, I get sick of all the hype from the leadership of this franchise that hasn’t come close to living up to the “secret sauce” comments about how good we are going to be. Honestly, the Jones boys will have to earn my trust with results on the field not their typical verbal hype.

Am I excited about the upcoming season? Yes. Do I have some hope? Yes. Do I believe all the stuff being said about how good we are going to be? I will believe it when it happens. Not before.

i agree with your point. i like hype if it comes with a side order of substance to it and a sprinkle of talent. And add some secret sauce . Not the kind that is empty and tasteless and you are telling me the bologna tastes like filet mignon. You know, the Jerry kind of hype. There were a number of teams we all knew even in TC, they would be piss poor and this goof is out there with his mug in the camera telling me we got a chance. You are right, they need to earn our trust now. No Yelp review until we taste the meal.

Awesome. If this team falls flat, the only thing I'm going to have to look forward to is how you diggity dance in the forums.

I enjoy the idea behind the hype but as far as buying into it, believing it without proof seems a foolish thing to do. Let's see what TC has of offer first.
