Ezekiel Elliott, how many yards do we really need from him

I am more about the timeliness, and quality of the runs. Big numbers, that don't lead to wins; is considered empty stats by some.

The proper question is how much efficiency do we need. What sort of YPC do we need. Have we not learned by now that empty meaningless yards get you no where but efficient repeatable yards take you all the way.

Dude averaged 5.1 YPC as a rookie. He had 11.3 YPR that year. He was awesome. The offense was awesome. We actually won a play off game. That seems like a life time ago.

Now he is nothing more than an over paid fat slow checked out fumble prone albatross.

He used to fly through the air, hurdle defenders, leap into the salvation army kettle, it was amazing. Now he is a sulky faded baby.

You're twisting things around. I said ZEKE needs to average around 80 yards a game. You forgot we have other RB contributors like Pollard.

Of course, that production would not equate to getting paid ridiculously so high, but blame Jerry for being the fool who gave Zeke such a ridiculous top overall RB paid contract.

And what about your comment that Zeke going for 100 a game would negatively effect the offense? I think my answer was pretty complete and straight forward. And I think you are glossing over the NEED part of the question.

NEED............as in to earn his money.
Not necessarily KM's fault that Zeke hasn't gotten the ball in, but his play calls have something to do with it. Seems like nothing but dives up the middle behind our worst run blocker (C williams). I think KM lacks imagination in the run game and opposing defenses know that, which makes it more difficult to run.

I think its a lot easier to blame the coach than admit that diving up the middle is about all Zeke can do. Just not quick enough or has the vision to consistently bounce it outside and be successful. Its what makes Zeke in particular AND our running game so predictable and easier to stop.

When the Oline was so great that it was opening up monster holes, Zeke looked great. But when there aren't big holes up the middle he is limited.

If you’ve been reading the posts. He can’t get in because he’s gased from the first 80 yards

Im not buying that nonsense. Zeke averaged 59 yards per game last year. Where were the 80 yards drives that were all Zeke?

Do you need to be an expert to see that Zeke is failing miserably to earn his 15 million per year?

For the morons, they have stats. 3.9 yards per carry, under 1000 yards rushing, ect....ect..

So what is your excuse?

Duhh..................................Moore doesnt throw enough button hooks to the FB.

Defenses have little fear of those quick hitters to the middle of the endzone. It's either handoff to Zeke, screen to Zeke, occasionally a throw to the corner, some crazy gimmick play to a WR, or a QB keeper.

Any idiot can see this glaring deficiency in the goal line offense. Well, almost any idiot.

Zeke is the deficiency in the GL offense. :muttley: With Zeke, we are limited as to what we can do in the run game. I do agree that Pollard needs to get more involved in the offense down there.

As far as the rest of your analysis, its complete garbage like most of your drivel. At least your not blaming Dak .

Show us the evidence.

Burden of evidence is on you. You are the one that made the outlandish claim. To imply that Moore doesnt have or doesnt call plays over the middle is absolutely laughable.

But since you asked......................here ya go.

This one was easy. Notice all the GREEN DOTS over the middle there genius?

Anything else? Your turn!

Roy, we are talking about plays from in close. Short yardage plays INTO the endzone. Even you must understand the difference between situations where the defense has to cover the whole field from situations where the defense has to cover twenty yards.

Your asking me to prove something that never happens. If the offense is even somewhat proficient at it, you should easily be able to show us a half dozen plays to back up you assertion. Hell, even a half dozen is barely only one per season.

Cute graphic though.

Zeke is the go to in those situations and defenses know it. Moore knows they know and has to run his goal line offense through Zeke, either directly or indirectly as a decoy to set up some sort of trick play.

Prove me wrong.

Quit your arguing, dude. Everybody here knows Zeke is being overpaid. That falls on Jerry. It still would hurt the Offense if Zeke was given more carries simply to average 100 yards/game based solely on his overbloated paycheck. The past 2 seasons' success with the pass AND a higher scoring average have proven that. Quit arguing with facts.

As per your second part of your last statement, I agree. I have said as much for years about Zeke. He lacks the lateral quickness and speed to make more than 1 cut and take it outside around the edge. Now, let's wait and see how he does this season. Zeke has improved his lateral agility and quickness through his personal agility workouts he has posted recently. Time (this season) will tell whether Zeke has improved that part of his game or not.

It's the chicken or the egg. Does KM try to ram Zeke through center/guard because that's all Zeke can do? Or is that all Zeke does because that is the extend of the run plays that KM calls?

Posters know I am no fan of Zeke. That said they are paying him big money and he needs to produce. In my opinion, given McCarthy’s low pct use of RBs, I see Zeke being more important in all-purpose yards rather than rushing yards. For me success is Zeke being a star in tandem with Pollard and being used more as a second half battering ram. Zeke catching 60 plus passes so he can attack the secondary in space. Zeke not fumbling the ball and taking himself out the 4th Q. Zeke moving the chains on 3rd and short. I would take 900/1000 rushing yards with another 600 or so receiving yards. No fumbles. 3/4 games where he is pushing the chains with a couple minutes left. Personally I would rather see this than 400 carries. I think the guy would be toast if he had that type of production.

Kellen Moore's play calling in the red zone will be key. Hope he's up to it.
Then we in trouble - thats his biggest weakness imo - bad play calling and no imagination with play design - bad combo.

And as to rushing TDs in the red zone - that's on the O-line as much as the RB, and the problem I see there is I doubt Williams and Biadasz are gonna be moving bodies around like T Fred and Leary used to do.

2 things we struggle with when we become a passing team.

1. TOP- we need this to keep our defense off the field more than anything
2. Red zone efficiency- TD's matter. We are pretty darn good 20-20 but struggle getting TD's.

I know it's not as easy as it sounds but that is the best chance for our defense not to hold us back. And if we get anything from ST it is a bonus.
