why the flip should they the OP needs to know why waste resources on aging CB when you have roster full of younger ones, yes he mentioned it but would have killed his post afar he reread what he wrote..

add to that isnt Rsherman still out there? will be some more vets cut by game 1 roster cut downs, go get one of them if by then you feel the young guys are not ready and /or AB Lewis arent getting it done..

with dak back and AC, LAMB, AND GALLUP running first team against or starting DBs , i believe the FO will know in august if they need hep..i mean going against that WR Core every day in TC, coaches will for sure see whos got it and who doesnt....
There are other vet db,s we can sign on the cheap

You willing to extend a 30+ cornerback top cornerback money. He is not playing for the contract he has with the Patriots. I would love to have him for next season with Diggs but beyond next year, no way.
It’s a waste of a draft pick
He’s not playing out his contract so you have to sign him
I’d love the talent but a 30 year old CB is not where I want to put my precious cap space

I know we have a glutton at CB at the moment, but not a solid option (that we currently know of) opposite Diggs. Gilmore would instantly solidify our starting CB’s … and NE wants to shop him. He should have at least 2 good years left in him. And he is a MUCH better option than Richard Sherman. I was pushing for this before the draft and so was Mike Fisher — and he still is.

On another note, there is something about Kelvin Joseph that I just don’t trust yet. Can’t put my finger on it, but I wouldn’t put too much hope in him at the moment. He has the skill set, but only time will tell if he has the mental focus needed for us to trust him completely.

With Gilmore, here’s how I would see our secondary shaping up:
  • S. Gilmore (CB)
  • T. Diggs (CB)
  • A. Brown (CB)
  • J. Lewis (CB)
  • CJ Goodwin (Special teams)
  • N. Wright (CB)
  • K. Joseph (CB)
  • I. Mukuamu (S)
  • D. Wilson (S)
  • D. Kazee (S)
I know I only have 3 safeties listed, but don’t forget - Keanu Neal could play safety in a pinch.

I would be ok with trading for Gilmore if we can trade back J. SMITH AND A. BROWN.
I'd even throw in 2 7th rounders.

This way we get out of the contracts and have enough cash to maybe resign Gilmore to help teach all of Diggs, Robinson, Wright and Joseph.
This would be a solid move for the Cowboys. And would be a great mentor for our youngsters.

It's stupid to get a old, high dollar CB when you've drafted 4 in the past two drafts, while also re-signing two vets long term. Much rather go after a old high dollar 1 Tech to stop the run.
