The Super Bowl reason is legit because we see it with QBs. But notable defense, notable other players? Don't know about those standards. Ware WAS our defense half the time so not sure he even meets that standard unless you consider his short time with Denver. Allen played with the pretty good DTs Pat and Kevin Williams (both Pro Bowlers) in Minnesota. Even so, if you were a standout on a defense that was pretty good and had other good players, then were you really as good as you looked? As the article said, it could help or hurt a player, particularly if you're not the first name people think of on that defense (both Allen and Ware in Dallas are -- Ware in Denver had Von Miller). As for the connected to a notable player, I'm not even sure where that comes from. All it does is give greater visibility and the player has to do the rest.

Ware played for the Dallas Cowboys. That is shine right there. And he had the stats to support his HoF resume. You don't think playing for the No Name Defense (Miami), the Purple People Eaters (Minnesota), the Steel Curtain (Pittsburgh), the Doomsday Defense (Cowboys), the 46 defense (Chicago) lends credibility to a person's HoF resume? I think so.

Be that as it may, I'm just offering MY opinion, which could be totally wrong. I hope Ware gets in because I'm a Cowboys fan. I, personally, don't care about the others and whether they get in. Have no skin in the game with Suggs, Freeney, Allen or Mathias.

How do you have a generationally gifted pass rusher and the most prolific passer in franchise history and win only one playoff game in eight years?

Sadly, I’m not a fan of any Cowboys players in the Hall of Fame who haven’t won a super bowl. We as a franchise have higher standards than others. We haven’t met them certainly. Ware was a good player but I can’t think of many times where he made a big play that won us a game that mattered. He can go in as a bronco as far as I’m concerned. Too often we needed one stop in a big game and he didn’t get it done. I vaguely remember a play against Brees in 09. Other that his highlights aren’t exciting to me. There is a wide chasm between Haley and Ware. I also think there is a wide chasm between a player like Suggs and Ware as well.

Besides Ware, Romo is also eligible in 2022. Romo, the Cowboy’s all time leader in passing yards & passing touchdowns, is unlikely to get in on the first try.

There's no doubt Ware has a shot of being a first ballot selection.

I like Romo, but let's get real, he is very unlikely to ever make it to the HOF.....he has a better shot as an analyst than a football player. That's if he stays around that long.

It's a foregone conclusion that DeMarcus Ware will be in the Hall Of Fame. I'm really pulling for Robert Mathis to eventually get in. He's a personal friend and was one of my college teammates. We actually played against D-Ware one year and lost. I think it would be cool to say I got a chance to share the same field with 2 Hall Of Famers.

He has the accolades.

He's the only player to have both superbowl MVP and all decade team and NOT be in the hall of fame.
Plus he was a very integral part of that SB team.. with the record for sacks if they kept track .. unbelievable

I watched every game he ever played for the Cowboys. He was the best DE I have ever seen. Not just as a player, but as a fierce competitor. His Hall of Fame chances are hurt by the facts that he played beside Randy White and had a domestic assault charge after he retired. The NFL has the technology to go back and record sacks from past years and add them to the record book, they just won’t do it. If they did, he’d be a shoo-in.

He was king of the inconsequential sack. How many games did he take over? I can only think of the Saints game in 2009.

Sacks are only inconsequential when the rest of the defense is poop and doesn’t carry their weight.

IMHO Ware going to Denver and being part of a winner is huge. Racking up meaningless stats for a perennial loser is no way to get into a hall of fame.
