With this ownership there are always two Cowboys teams. The one you see and the one they try and sell you on because they're basically selling themselves.

SB or bust is laughable with a 6-10 team that did little in FA and is counting on rookies to fix their D with a DC that didn't fix the one in ATL the time he was there.

They have a HC that could win only one ring with the best QB in the game and even he turned on him. And he made very questionable decisions in his first year as the DC HC. With two possible step in replacements on his staff, does he get twitchy and press too hard?

It is too early to be calling this team even a true contender but I do think it is good enough to win the East with good health. But drop a couple of starting OL or DB's early on and they could be looking at another top 10 pick.

If y'all don't like reading, y'all might be the same people who get handed a menu in El Toro and say, "I'll have what he's having!"

Or, they might be people who know what real Spanish Food is and realize that El Toro is pretty crappy.

I mean, there are always two sides to everything right?

We have the talent - yes, even on defense.
We need COACHING and an ATTITUDE.
We can't have any more stupid schemes and vanilla play-calling.
I know players play an important role. (I'll reserve my criticisms for the appropriate time.)
But I didn't see where Moore or Nolan helped one bit.
Moore has to step up his game. If he's going to be the kid to run the big tech company - so to speak - he's going to have to start showing some innovation. Show us you know how to drive a Ferrari at top speed.
Now that Nolan is gone, show us what you've got Quinn.
As for McCarthy, can you PLEASE make your presence known? At least with Garrett, I could tell he was TRYING to coach, albeit, unsuccessfully.
Honestly, I couldn't even tell if McCarthy was on the sidelines, his presence was so invisible.
That's where my eyes will be this year. On the coaching.
I'll admit upfront that I wasn't excited when we got the news McCarthy was our new HC, but I wasn't ticked either. Still I might be a bit harder on him than I should be, but I am waiting to see him show his imprint on the team.

You declared that you don't believe in throwaway years. Then you are against the Walker trade.

Fair enough, but to clarify, I don't think of it as throwing away a year if there was never any hope for that year to begin with. Can't throw away what you don't have. Maybe I should have clarified that.

I still remember the day we found out it wouldn't be Jason. It was a good day.

We could make the playoffs, we should make the playoffs, but this ain’t Super Bowl or bust and IMO we aren’t ever going to get there with Mike McCarthy. 25 years of failure but how many of them involve nepotism in the highest coaching jobs? You can’t win this league with the handicap of Mike McCarthy and cronies, or Jason Garrett, you aren’t gonna get there when you let guys like Matt Ebberflus walk because Marinelli is one of the boys....Nepotism hold this franchise back from success, it starts with the family in charge, who they hire, and how they look after there friends.

Why are you being so optimistic?

Throwaway years are always years where there is no hope. That's the very definition of throwaway year.

No, the definition is giving up on a year. The context I was writing in was the notion of not trying to win in the coming season with the hope of getting higher draft picks to help in seasons after that, and this coming season is certainly not one where there is no hope.

I was all about the McCarthy train. But his presence was so invisible I actually wondered if he was even coaching the team. Like you, I want to see what he brings to the table. I really haven't seen anything yet.

Homer thread. Same ole blah, blah, blah. Teams going nowhere. Wake up, watch with no expectations and watch another failed season under captain JJ.

DAMN!. That's so sad. All my dreams and aspirations have been dashed on the rocks. There is no hope to be found in the world, only gloom and despair.

But could you stop the whining? It gives me a headache.

Man Jerry has his sales shoes on if he is pushing Super Bowl or bust after what that defense looked like last year. We have talent and I think we will be good....But i gotta see that defense stop 1 running back from having a career day before I'm SB or bust. I am hopeful and excited with some nervouse about the defense.

Our down fall will be over paying for an average to poor QB. Especially coming off injury. Jerry put all his faith into another risky proposition. Really wasn't smart. :(

If the cowboys closed shop and moved to Portland, OR it wouldn't be the end of the world.
