unless MM embarrasses this franchise he will get 3 years to make necessary changes and adjustments to get on track. you all can talk to death about players and coaches you believe need to be let go, but outside of its being ranting ravings adn ramblings by jaded fans, IT WONT HAPPEN on your time frame..

its only fair to allow MM 3 seasons of a 5 yr deal..also only thing that makes sense , constantly changing coaches staffs without giving them a fair shot 3-4 years , is just going to be making changes to make changes they rarely improve anything short term..

rant away but MM our coach at minimum, through 2022..enjoyo_O;)

I believe his time is limited anyway.
If this team continues to have great success, teams will start looking at Kellen Moore in the next couple seasons. If the defense improves greatly, Quinn will be looked at again. I don’t think Jerry keeps Mike over his successful coordinators. To be honest, if Dallas had kept Nora and Wannstadt when Jimmy left, the Cowboys would have been fine. The losses of Norv and Wannstadt were even more critical.

I'm not sure why you wrote "if this team continues to have great success", but in any case, they won't dump him if the team starts to have great success. This doesn't appear to be a Jimmy Johnson scenario where Jerry is butting heads with the successful coach.

I hear you, but my hunch is that unless the offense fails to be top 10 (I don't see that) Moore is safe. He's been good. I don't see them changing the DC three times in 3 years so Quinn should also be safe.

McCarthy, meanwhile will be judged by overall results and the bar won't merely be a winning record, IMO. The leaks to the press tell me the front office is bent towards firing McCarthy and will need to be convinced otherwise.

Well, Garrett was essentially fired because he couldn't get the team to take the next step, getting to the NFC title game, so it's possible McCarthy, who was brought in to get the team to the next step, will be held to that standard. However, I have a hard time believing he would be fired if Dallas finishes 10-6, wins the East and then loses in the first round of the playoffs by a few points.

I think the onus would be on him to improve on that performance the next year or else, instead of following the Garrett pattern of having a winning season (while playing a weaker schedule), then crumbling the next year for whatever reason (while playing a strong schedule), then having a winning season (while playing a weaker schedule) ... Hopefully, the Joneses learned their lesson about allowing that AND I think Garrett got a lot more leeway because of how the Joneses viewed him; he was part of the family.

Every thread i semi-prognosticate in I voice my skepticism of Mike McCain. I just feel he's just another Jerry screw up coaching hire.

Look at the odds here. Jerry fired Dallas’ only coach upon buying the team. Of course he had to and it turned out to be a good decision because of Jimmy Johnson. Since then Jerry has hired 7 coaches. Bill Parcells was a success and might have been a bigger one had he not been run off. Jason Garrett can be argued as a success, although many here would not. For that reason, I will say Jerry is one and a half out of seven for hiring coaches—six if you want to give McCarthy more time (I don’t). One for six/seven is barely good enough if you are a pitcher. It plain sucks if you are a GM.

Doesn't bring much to the table is still light years ahead of clap and spit for 13 years.
Well I never wanted JG as HC, wanted him gone for long time, but last year MM was worse than JG , and he is a longtime
veteran coach!!
JG was a rookie , learn on the job coach, and so far mike has not out performed JG.
That is pretty bad.

Mike will have no excuses this year, although someone will come up with some, or there could be more injuries etc.
Or he could do good, maybe Team does good, it is hard to predict.
All I know is mike needs to be way better this season.

yeah jones boys are awful when it comes to hiring HC's, Jerry just lucked out with jimmy, and parcells was too old by the
time jerry hired him, and that is why he retired.
Said he didnt care for the regular season, just the playoffs and didnt want to go thru another season just to get to the part he liked.
I also think parcells knew that seattle loss was partly his fault. Romo should not have still been the place holder.
