This is no bigger a year for DLaw than any other year. It's just the current one.

PFF has Lawrence rated the 7th best edge defender.

But I get it, our players have to be the best in the league, we can't accept less, right? Throw the bum out, let's go for the absolute top edge defender, 7th isn't good enough, right?

He got the big bucks from Jerry, so it doesn't matter who his teammates are, who the coaches are, etc. he got the money so that automatically means he has to be the top dog at his position, nothing else matters. You get paid, no reason why you can't play lights out.

Yet he is the 3rd highest paid DE (behind Bosa and Garrett) and ranked 36th in sacks in 2020 and 73rd in sacks in 2019 so why shouldn't fans expect more from Lawrence?

I bet Dan Quinn would like to forget last season considering he was so bad he was fired midseason.
You are going to dash the unrealistic hopes of posters that that thinks every new coach that is hired is HOF worthy. They thought Nolan walked on water until reality hit. Quinn should be an improvement, but it is just as likely that he will produce defenses that makes us mad enough to throw bricks at the TV.

Not when it comes to inspiring leadership.
Same question.

The HC and coordinator jobs are monumentally different, including inspiration. Not even in the same conversation.

We've had some examples on our own team. Wannstadt and Turner were awesome coordinators including inspirations, but failed miserably as HC's. Happens all the time.

Did they get fired midseason? I know it happened to Wade Phillips.

He wasn't the DC he was the HC.
As a HC, he would have full control of the defense and the offense. He doesn’t get a pass for holding a position higher than DC and still failing. Being HC is no excuse when his defenses was stinking everything up on the field.

Ooooooh, didn't think about that facet. Can't rush passer if he's not passing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!! The Flamma Rule!!!!

LOL stop!!!! It thought it was pretty obvious but people talk as if this isn't a consideration. They want to see numbers. They compare statistics. But they fail to consider the situation surrounding the player.

What is the situation that needs to be considered around the head hot boy? Stayed, got paid, then underplayed?

I hope his sack numbers come back up. When you’re costing that much against the cap, they HAVE TO. Worst case, he could be a post June 1st cut next year.

Some may have thought that. But not all just as many that said he was good DC said he was a bad DC. The biggest difference between him and Quinn is at least Quinn has something to hang his hat on that is not at least a decade old.

You usually need passing downs for sacks. The more 2nd and 3rd and long yardage plays you have, the more opportunity for sacks. If you're constantly in 2nd and 5, followed by a 3rd and 2, your chances are almost non existent. Last year was really frustrating with those situations.

He is a very good player who is getting elite money, hence the problem.

He needs more help from the interior defensive lineman to force focus away from him. Effort is not the problem. He is a high energy guy and a good run stopper. But o-lines can focus on him because they are not worried about pressure up the middle, hurting his sack numbers and rushing percentages.

He makes more money then he should, but he is a very good player who needs better players around him for his production numbers to increase.

A situation he helped create.

When I was in the Marines men weren't allowed to wear an earring at any time. A young Marine was off duty and at a BBQ and a Warrant Officer I knew well walked up to him, grabbed the earring and yanked it out. Someone needs to yank off that HotBoyz neckless from those players.

The WO would get court marshaled today
