What is a grocery bag boy?

We used to tip the guy pumping gas, but when they stopped cleaning windshields they stopped getting tips.

They bagged your groceries for you and pushed them out to your car and loaded them. Did it for a couple years or so when I was around 16, the tips i got weren't worth mentioning.

I tip

Waiter/ waitress
Barber
Cab drivers
Bell hops
Grocery Bag boys
Pizza delivery man
Bartender
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE

I tip the wait staff but I rarely eat out. Only on vacation or on TDY (business trip). Buying more meals at supermarkets than restaurants on recent trips. Wife and I haven’t been to a restaurant in over 18 months due to the shutdowns and covid. Both of us are excellent cooks and we eat like royalty at home for 1/4 the cost of restaurants.

I cut my own hair, don’t use taxis, always carry my own bags, bag my own groceries at the self-checkout lanes, don’t do pizza delivery, and don’t go to bars.

I hardly tip at all. Loved living in Japan where no one tips. Tipping is a pretty stupid custom in my opinion. Spent time in Germany and they don’t tip restaurants there.

Never had those here.

But I forgot to mention caddies. I don't often use them but some courses require you to use a caddie. I tipped them heavily if they are really good and don't make fun of my game.

I consider myself great tipper, so all those you've listed I tip well and tip well. I also tip people that delivery me goods (furniture/appliances, etc.). I've also tipped drive-thru people if they show an ounce of professionalism; especially in the pandemic times. When I've ever hired service people to do stuff around the house I will tip them as well.

I do, however; hate to tip at places that really didn't give me any service, like when I place a to-go order and and go inside to pick up the order. I fail to see what additional service they provided me.

I'm the same well except I do tip the go to order. I think it's cause I used to work that same shift/job years ago and remember how bad the pay sucked/how it felt getting tips.

 There is always one in the group...what is about the criminals and suits with Tarantino

I tip the same as your OP, more classic places you know to tip and usually 20% but may go higher for delivery guys in the rain/snow type thing. This new tip jar everywhere thing is a bit much and off putting at times deftly too. Kind of diff. but similar to asking for a bag at the grocery store...look at you like you're anti-social or something lol; the new "normal"

I try now to tip on that over in the locals there. And in the people that are trying to make it. As they are in the beginning of their careers. Meaning that ove rin the young people there. Being a waiter or a waitress is very hard from what I see.

I have a tip for those in the service industry who wait tables. Never ask a person if they want their change. Just bring them their change. Don't be presumptuous with other peoples money.

anyone that provides a service to me that I am pleased with gets a tip, right down to the furniture and appliance delivery folks, the only exception are those that provide a monthly service..no tip for you!
