Before camp begins, do you believe Cowboys have talent to win a super bowl this year?

Where in the NFC do you think the Cowboys rank with talent? And I think you have to include coaching in that as well.

I do not have the Cowboys in the top 7 in coaching. I have them behind GB, LAR, SF, SEA, WFT, NO and TB.

I don't have them in the top 10 in coaching in the NFC. I don't have them in the top 20 on defense, league-wide.

That's asking the offensive talent to overcome a lot of shortcomings elsewhere. Too much, in my opinion.

No. The defense is still suspect. The DTs are not really much better than before and the CBs are not great either. Then we have Jaylon Smith and LVE at LB. Things would really have to come together for this crew to win a SB.

Absolutely they have the talent. There’s truly not that great a difference in talent between the Super Bowl winner and the best non-playoff team. It boils down to luck and finding a groove at the right time.

the talent is there i am just not sure the coaching and front office are at that stage if they cant compete in the nfc for the championship game then i dont know why i should watch

A simple yes/no question having people look at the present roster talent with no ‘if’s’ and so many people attach a bunch of ‘ifs.’

So, I guess some people a) don’t read, b) read but don’t comprehend simple words and phrases, or c) the power of attaching ‘ifs’ is too strong in their minds to resist.

Simply, do you think the team presently has the overall talent to win a super bowl this year? No contingents, no conditions, no if this or if that, etc.

The real talent the Cowboys lack is in the management of the franchise. Not the CFO as the cash is apparently not an issue. Especially here in Dallas. The culture on the field and in the clubhouse is the issue. It just feels as if the players have the "I'll just go tell the GM" attitude, when things don't go their way with the HC ever since Parcells left or maybe that's why he left and why this club can't get a real HC since Jimmy said "See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya."

What is the talent gap really between all teams in the league. Is it really that much. Are the Bucs that far and ahead better than Dallas? I don't really think so. I think they are better coached, better prepared, much better led both on and off the field.

It all starts with the ability to recognize what you DON'T KNOW and to be able to find the people who DO KNOW those things and hire them and then allow them to do those things and GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!

Jerry doesn't have THAT talent........

Great post man. I got a weird comparison one. I compare those 3 positions of a football team to the Fire Triangle we were taught in school, remember that? Lol. If one didn't work you had no fire.
So instead of Fuel, Oxygen and Heat...

for a pro football team the elements are GM, HC and QB.

There is some serious debate over these past two plus decades as to which element, or 2 or even all 3 have been the major cause of the missing fire with the Cowboys.

Opinions vary, lol.

Yes. I'm sure of it. The difference between best and worst in the NFL isn't a chasm in this day and age.

There are only a few players, a few moments, a few decisions that separate the best and worst.

Some learn how to get those pieces to fall into place just once. Some never seem to figure it out. Some do it consistently.

We have a decent system for acquiring talent. I think we spit into the wind, seemingly intentionally so, when hiring coaches.

Yes or no. Not are they going to win the super bowl but do they have the talent. No answers contingent on anything (e.g injuries or luck). Just a big picture talent evaluation. Roster talent for this poll includes players and coaches, but not the GM.

I’d like to see this poll right before camp opens and the same poll after camp ends.

No defense has to be waaay better. And I think this offense isn't all that it is being cracked up to be. We'll see if they are a top 3 offense, but for some reason I think it won't be, probably because I don't trust Moore.

- Defense
- Head Coach
- Coaching Asst roles (Quinn, Phillibin, Whitt Jr. Bones)
- Lack of depth in certain units
- Front office immediate moves (backup QB, etc)
