Stephen is the next part of the curse. He’s 57 years old.

And then there's his son, the quarterback at Arkansas who will eventually follow in daddy's footsteps.

The "curse" will be going on for decades after many of us have passed to our eternal dirt naps. :oldcouple:

During the HOF festivities in August, someone on TV mention that Jimmy Johnson is enshrined, but his name is not on Cowboys Ring of Honor.

We won with Jimmys team. Many think we could have won 4-5 straight SBs if Jimmy had stuck around.
True
or maybe we win the two we won with Jimmy and never win again
We will never know for sure.

I don't believe in any of this curse crap, but I do believe the salary cap circumvented or voided Jerry's mojo and that is spending money. With a salary cap, smart decisions have to be made on who you pay and we all know that Jerry falls in love with guys and pays them when he shouldn't. I also know there is a false sense of security with players because Jerry treats a few of them like sons. The culture that exist and the salary cap is the problem and the only thing that could fix that would be a new GM who steered the ship without emotion.

If we won the SB this year, prompting Jerry to say “I’ll stick around for another couple of years!” Would you be unhappy?

The only way to honestly answer that question is to see them actually win the SB this year. It's year 26 of the rebuild, so let's hope they finally do it.

So, Im not superstitious....but its been 25-6 years since we been to a Super Bowl. Heck we havent even sniffed a Super Bowl even when we had teams that had legit teams that should have been contenders.

It is almost like we have been cursed.

Remember when The Tuna rebuilt the Cowboys roster into a legit contender and we were a FG away from advancing in the playoffs and somehow the slickest ball in NFL history makes it into the game and Romo fumbles the snap?

What about the Dez no catch against the Packers in the playoffs only for the NFL to make a rule change on what a catch is, using the Dez no catch as an example of what a catch is?

What about finally finding a replacement for Marco with Zeke and our MVP level QB gets hurt a couple of weeks before the season starts?
maxresdefault.jpg

Even with a backup 4th round QB we actually had a great season and Dak as rookie went toe to toe with Aaron Rodgers and we still got....Aaron Rodgered?

The Zeke suspension despite the NFL's own investigator testifying against the NFL that Zeke didnt do anything?
Zeke-Suspension-Twitter1.png

We finally fired JG and no true offseason or preseason for the new coaching staff to truly implement their systems?

Again Im not superstitious but.....dang we have had some really bad luck. The only good luck we have had ironically has been a black cat.....

Some of us believe that we have been cursed because of how Jimmy left the team in the 90's. Jerry Jones despite being the owner and the GM not really owning up to being the reason of why Jimmy left could be the primary reason we were cursed.

26 years later....Jerry finally admits that he messed up. Is the Jimmy Johnson curse now lifted?

We've already paid our dues, suffering through all those years of misery -- surely, we can't cruelly be cursed again in 2021?! :omg:
H-m-m . . . or can we?! C'mon, Jerry, it's high time to put Jimmy in the ROH, doncha think?:thumbup:C'mon, man, do the right thing!!

But when you look at Ceedee Lamb falling to us in the draft, getting the best quarterback in the draft with a fourth round pick, the most improbable onside-kick recovery in history, going 3 for 3 on field goals of 62+ yds in one year, etc., it's hard to maintain the "cursed" idea.

But yes, Barry won with Jimmy's team.

More like Jimmy's team won in spite of Barry. That game was on NFLN last night. Dallas had no answers for the Steelers second half adjustments.

Thankfully, Dallas had better players at key positions...like quarterback.

I truly believe Dallas would be the only franchise with 7 rings had Romo not botched the hold & Dez' so called dropped pass was reversed.

I'll go with you on the 2006 season. With Parcells at Head Coach and the Bears actually winning the NFC, Dallas absolutely could've taken on the Colts and Dungy.

But 2014 is another matter. Going through Seattle twice would've been difficult, assuming the defense even stopped Rodgers after the Dez catch. Then there are the Patriots, and the GOAT, waiting in the SB. No way I trust that Cowboys defense, and Jason Garrett, against those guys.

But we actually won a Super Bowl after JJ left. I know it was basically his team but it still happened. Not a curse, just a ton of stupid decisions and some bad luck.

Great point. I would add the curse was NFL free agency that ended our dynasty.

Yup, I have been saying this for years.. and I always get painted as a downer!! It's the truth guys and gals. Going on 26 years without making it to the championship game. Just sit and think about that. 1995 Champs.. what were you all doing that year???
I think Jerry admitting he made a mistake is the first step.. Jimmy making the Hall is probably the first step.. Thankfully that finally happened. To me this is really the first step.
He should have admitted this in 99/2000. We really need Jerry to capitulate. Until he realizes Culture eats strategy for breakfast he will never fix this organization.
Jimmy fixed the culture here starting in 89, the man was a genius beyond words. He flipped it and he rebuilt the roster and culture from scratch.
Jerry ignores culture, he wants hype and media and his own radio, tv, internet shows. He wants to sizzle more than the steak. The media used to take him to task in the mid to late 90's but then it all changed. Fans, media, everyone just accepted he was the GM, but the emperor has not clothes he never did.
Now I want to see what changes.

It only took 85 years for the curse of Ruth to be broken so who knows.
